Bought this back in January of 2016. From that day forward, it worked great. Battery would run about 15-20 minutes, enough to run through the place quickly. Works on wood floors and carpeting.

Then, today (12/10) the charger stopped charging. Not sure if it's the battery or the charger, but I have a feeling it is the charger. Plug it in and I get a quick flash, then nothing. Testing it shows less than 5 volts output. Very discouraging. Thinking I could order another charger, but it costs almost as much as the new price on the vacuum. It's supposed to have a 2 year warranty and I have contacted Hoover. Let's see how well they stand behind their products.

This vacuum has good suction for its size. Until it gets clogged. It gets clogged often but I'm not sure that's the fault of the vacuum.
The Battery life is pretty good and it charges fast.

The Bad: The rubber started peeling off after about 1 month of use. A vacuum at this price point should be made of better materials. We ordered 3 of them and they all had this problem. Little chunks of plastic falling off. At least you can vacuum up the plastic with ease. =)

I loved this vacuum cleaner for the 13 months that it worked. However, since it quit working in July, I have been trying to get it serviced. With its 2 year warranty, I didn't anticipate any problems. Boy was I wrong! I was given the name and address for a service store that turned out to be out of business. I took my vacuum to another store that supposedly was taking over the service contract, only to find out that they were mired in red tape with Hoover and didn't have the contract "yet." Two months later and two more calls to customer service, and they still don't have a contract and Hoover tells me that I never should have been given a referral to a service center because they no longer fix the stick vacs. I was told that my only option is to retrieve the vacuum from the service store and call Hoover again with the serial number so they can see if they can go to the "next level," although she wouldn't tell me what that next level would be. Every time I have called Hoover, I have waited on hold for a minimum of 45 minutes and I'm now no closer to getting my vacuum fixed than I was in August. In my experience, Hoover is disorganized and their customer service department is overworked and/or incompetent. I will NEVER buy another Hoover product!

For the money it's getting the job done

It's going on 3 months since I purchased the Hoover Linx BH50010 and so far things are going fairly well. You should know that this item in not maintenance free. I recall seeing a number of reviews about how the unit worked for a while before it stopped working. I found this to be true, it happened to me. After a little investigation I found the answer.
First, when you remove the dirt cup from the unit you will notice a sticker labeled "Maintenance Guide". You are instructed to inspect openings A and B. A is the little opening above the sticker in the body of the vacuum. The debris travels past the brushes, through opening A on it's way to the dirt cup. I found that the path was completely filled with dog hair and the like that had become tangled with part of a paper wrapper of the like that will lodge in the pathway and trap stuff coming through. As long as there is a blockage in this path, the vacuum will be unable to function. So, if your vacuum stops working, you should first check this opening for obstructions. Opening B is the brush assembly. I have not seen it completely clog, but I can verify that the brush rollers and the area surrounding them will accumulate dog hair, threads, and other stuff that will stick to the brushes and nearby points. So this stuff needs to be pulled from the brushes on a regular basis. Now you should check the red baffle tube that is inside the dirt cup housing. You can unscrew the baffle by opening the discharge door on the dirt cup and rotating the bottom of the baffle to remove. There is a see through hole in the dirt cup where you can see the plastic stop that holds the baffle in place. Pull the baffle out and remove the strands of hair, dog fur, and threads that may have become wound around the baffle, then replace the baffle by viewing the stops through the hole in the dirt cup. Occasionally dust and crud accumulated on the foam in the top end of the dirt cup will need to be removed. So, if you perform your maintenance check list, it will probably do the job for you.
The battery life is considerably better than the Eureka stick vacs that this replaces. We shall see how long it holds up as the months pass, but at this time it gets a thumbs up for picking up stuff off my largely tiled downstairs with some minor carpeted areas. I can usually get 2 full vacuums before charging - I'm guessing between 15 - 20 minutes worth with the brushes working all time.
Annoyances: You must be careful that the latch on the dirt cup is fully and soundly deployed, otherwise when you dip the vac down to go under a chair it will jar the latch and the dirt cup will fall out onto the floor. If it's latched securely, this will not happen.
Also, I wish that the brush roller was easily detachable, because pulling hair and the like out of the rollers is a pain. The stuff wraps around the ends and elsewhere and at times you have quite a struggle unraveling the stuff from the roller. That's one reason why I can't give this item a 5.
It is a step up from my Eureka Quick Up, especially in quality and longevity of the battery. It beats a broom all to heck.

Update 4/13/2018: I bought it on 8/30/2016. It's now 20 months since my purchase and the beater brush has stopped working. The brush will work when the vac is fully upright or fully lowered to the floor- just not in the normal vacuuming angle that is used when you use the vacuum. It's weird. It is 8 months beyond a one year warranty period. Would I bite the bullet and replace it? Not sure yet.

I love this so much, I had to write a review right away in case folks are looking for good Holiday gifts. I will write again when I've used it a while. This solves all my vacuuming issues. It is cordless and very light so I don't have to struggle while moving it around. The power from the battery is strong enough to do a good job on my carpets without multiple passes. The sound is pleasant. This is the "Swiffer" of vacuum cleaners. Great for anyone who has difficulty with a full size vacuum. I will be using it daily for quick passes on the family room carpet, the kitchen floor, etc., and most importantly, on the carpeted stairs which get neglected because using my regular vacuum cleaner on them makes my back hurt. It maneuvers easily, and includes a swivel function. It also looks really cool. I am keeping it where I can easily grab it whenever I need it. My house gets very little traffic so I will probably use my full size only when I need to use attachments for cleaning furniture and reaching high places. Addendum: As you can see, I loved this product. It was great until the battery died, after just a few uses. So disappointing. I used it once every couple weeks, so it was too late to return it.

Let's be very honest here, the suction power for this is weaker than Dyson (which I owned, and its battery died), and the operating time is not as long. However, for the price I paid for it, I am satisfied. This is useful for me to do a quick cleanup every now and then, and use my central vacuum system every couple of weeks for a more thorough cleaning.
Compare to Dyson this is what I liked
1. Exhaust is now blowing the air in your face, which is common for stick vacuums and it's not pleasant
2. weight is more balanced instead of top heavy, and can stand on its own without a rack. This makes it more maneuverable, and easier to use.
3. battery can be removed and charged separately, and is easier to replace if the battery goes bad.

Just received it today. It was able to pick up so much dog hair in the area rug, AFTER it had been vacuumed that morning using a central vacuum. Was shocked to see how much it removed. Very pleased with the auction and with the rollers ability to pick up stuff off the floor.
It’s super easy to empty, just push a button and the lid releases making for easy dumping of crumbs, dog fur etc.
Battery life is about 20ish minutes or so. Not horrible but would be nice if it lasted longer.
Only used once so far, will update review if anything negative pops up.

When this was delivered to me , I charged the battery over night,
next day i put the battery in the vacuum, did not work.
I called hoover they were not too helpful, they asked for my receipt which I sent to them.
Now they are asking me to cut the cord of the charger, and take a picture of the cut cord and label from the
charger and send with reply to their e-mail. I am 78 years old, and so tired from the run around.

Great for small, open spaces

Vacuum performed as expected. We found the vacuum did a good job on low-pile carpets and bare hardwood/tile, and is quite light. I rated it a bit lower for manoeuverability as the vacuum head is a bit bulky so it would sometimes have issues with clearance to get underneath stuff like bookshelves or shoe racks. If you have a lot of bare floor and easy to move furniture, this vacuum is really good though corners can be a challenge.

We ended up moving on from this unit as it doesn't have any tools or attachments and we needed something that could also do upholstry and the crevaces on our couch.

Good for cat litter in low pile carpet

I got this vacuum specifically for cat litter + fur that accumulates constantly in my condo - particularly on low pile carpet. The suction is definitely much better than my last vacuum, including on the low pile carpet. This is overall good value for the investment and I would recommend.

Shortcomings - tougher to manoeuvre, doesn’t have a light on the head to help spot less visible debris, and no smaller corner tools included. Also, anyone with long hair will continue to have the problem of it getting stuck in the brush roll.

For optimal / sustained performance I do suggest cleaning out the filters. I don’t normally do this with vacuums but it’s easier to do with this one.

Would purchase again assuming it lasts at least two years.
