One has to wonder whether this critic ever stopped reading statistics long enough to actually "try out" this book! Granted, rabbits in general can be extremely stubborn and they need motivation and positive reinforcement, but THIS BOOK DOES WORK, PEOPLE!!! Since you can not hit them nor yell at them as all that would serve to do is show them why they should not trust you, this book shows you exactly "how" to train your rabbit the right way.
For example, rabbits do not enjoy spending all day and all night in a cage; however, leaving them run free to chew up electrical cords, etc. is not safe and is extremely destructive! Therefore, by picking the bunny up and quietly, but sternly repeating several times to him, "No, no, no (rabbit's name)," while placing him back into his cage (exactly where it doesn't want to be yet again!), the so-called "dumb bunny" gets smart very quickly!
I have seen the results for myself!!! I strongly DO recommend this wonderful book to any house rabbit owner!
I wish that this book would have been brought up to date, or that someone would write a new book solely dedicated to training your rabbit. This is one of the reasons that this book has value, despite its age and a few factual errors: there just aren't any other books out there entirely dedicated to the subject.
If you want some great information on rabbits, read The House Rabbit Handbook by Marinell Harriman, which has been revised this year--and visit Rabbit.org
There is a new book called The Rabbit Whisperer by Ingrid Tarrant (currently available only in the UK) that I hope tackles this subject for the more "advanced" rabbit-person. Otherwise, to somebody out there willing: Please re-write this book!!
Please view this book as one beginner's experience with making some mistakes, and not as a guide for new owners.
