Review

Rod Terry s book, Hope Chest is not only full of inspirational keepsakes, as he calls them, it is truely a work of art. It is awsome! Check it out. I know you will be as impressed as I was when I first saw it. Then I began to read it. It s a delight. --Joann Aaronson, author, The Circle of Life

This is a really lovely book, truly filled with a "treasury" of spiritual nuggets for readers to take away, remember, work toward, apply to their lives. Well-organized and broad in scope, but not too broad, it covers the most important keys to leading a successful, rewarding, fully spiritual life. Each little chapter headed with basic directives, contains a straightfoward message and is illustrated with colorful anecdotes and pithy quotes. This is fine writing. The colorful cover is eye-catching and conveys what's in the book, front and back, inviting the reader to get into the book... Very nice job, indeed! --Writer's Digest 17th Annual International Book Awards

"Hope Chest" is a treasure trove of inspirational wisdom for everyday situations. Each essay within the five sections of the book--Private Pilgrimages, Sacred Communions, Balancing Acts, Passionate Pursuits, and Divine Revelations--provides a way to center your life in any situation. I especially like the "Keepsakes" at the end of each essay. The author states, "Renew the Spirit! Refresh the Soul!" You will feel recharged after reading this book.

I place Rod Terry's Hope Chest among those I keep on my nightstand or in my pocketbook. In a very modern, sagatious voice, Terry drops highly accessible pearls of wisdom for anyone to pick up and apply to his/her everyday experience. Like the handed-down of treasures of old, Hope Chest guides and inspires readers interested in clear, pointed, yet compassionate steps to self-care and the freedom of spirit so clearly valued by the Rod Terry. Hope Chest should be placed next to Chopra and Williamson; inviting self development and eventual wholeness through this very practical guide. Give Thanks Rod Terry!

I've read a lot of books like these before and though they tend to touch on the same themes, this book kind of stands out for me for a few reasons. These are really good, common sense guides for living that you may have heard before but reemphasized in a way that makes you want to actually follow the sage advice bestowed. I really like Mr. Terry's writing and the way he tries to personalize his own journey throughout these pages.

What I like best part is that the book is succinct. A lot of inspirational type books take the long way around the point. This is a great book for those who love to read as well as for those who may not be avid readers because it just tells you what you need to know--sort of like a good friend or an wise, older relative might. For that reason, I think it might be one of the few inspirational type books that would make a great gift for men as well.

If you're looking for something to help jump start your New Year's resolutions or perhaps just the right book to take with you on vacay, this is a good one.

This book is about diaries. If you are one to keep a journal like myself you will appreciate this book. It is filled with beautiful epiphanies that are gleaned from experiences from the Author's life. They are well juxtaposed to relate to our own experiences and ways to deal with everyday life.

The order and instructions has a rhythm of a devotional. I spent time with this book. It is almost as if though each day it hit upon something that was going on with me at the time of reading the book. I chose to read at the end of the day instead of my normal morning devotional reads. It's pricked my mind to correctional rebuke or confirmed the ordaining of my steps.

I enjoyed it very much. My hope is that I can help in exposing this book as many people I can. All in All
I pray that this book will encourage all readers and those who journal to continue to do so. I pray that they read go back read what they journal maybe even be prompted with elevated ideas of book to manifested to help others through life.

I received Hope Chest from a friend as a gift. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I was captivated from the very beginning with the author's discussion of his inspiration for writing the book. His close relationship with his grandmother and his ability to use the "hope chest" tradition as a metaphor for what is truly important life moved me in a way I did not expect. Although, the entire book was inspirational and uplifting, the sections on "Balancing Acts" and "Passionate Pursuits" particularly resonated with me. This is one of those unexpected finds that everyone should read. Great book!
