Tucker Max is a clever, witty, and brave guy who once decided to put up a website to sing a song of himself, and, the rest, as they say is history. It's a Perez Hilton story except Tucker is a guy you'd actually want to know. Essentially, I Hope they Serve Beer in Hell is a celebrity memoir written by a non-celebrity. At least Tucker wasn't a celebrity at the time he began living this life (and recording it on paper). It remains surprising though that Tucker got his JD and never gave being a lawyer a serious thought, but based on the type of money he's made thus far with writing his decision is certainly defensible. He's probably earned more cash since 2006 than most of us make in a decade. And I say bravo to that.
This memoir is certainly harsh and demeaning in regards to the players involved and this includes both the men and the women. The way in which Tucker and his crew abuse their bodies is rather depressing. They hail from the "drinking is cool" school which is not a worldview to which I ascribe, but vicarious exposure to their antics is entertaining--especially, as the reader's own stomach and liver are not destroyed in the process.
Personally, I have no doubt that the events he describes are accurate. Women are not reputed to behave in this fashion, but, of course, they do. Generally, it's not with reputable guys, however. As we all know, bad boys forever pique female interest. Indeed, one can glean more about the nature of women from this book than they can most mainstream publications. By that I don't mean the negative terms by which Tucker depicts them as these are overstated and not descriptive of individuals. Rather, that girls love guys who present in the way he and his crew do is accurate and we find it affirmed again and again here in his account of their transactions. The media seek to deny this eventuality but the affairs of these fellows describe female sexuality in a far superior fashion than women themselves do. I Hope they Serve Beer in Hell is verboten and politically incorrect; which is precisely why it should be prized.
And I know other women will hate me for supporting this kind of hedonistic trash, but, I don't care. And, honestly, I love this book for the same reason I love Eminem.
They're both honest, and they push the envelope for the rest of us writers and TAKE THE HEAT, which ensures we can always say what we think, and they've taken their imperfections and made them into art! And if you take it for what it is--you can't help but laugh!
And I think I divorced Tucker Max in 1988...only he was using an alias, and I'll bet every woman in America has either dated a "Tucker Max", has been sexually harassed by Tucker Max--or knew someone who was. Thanks for celebrating the assholes of America to make all the good men look so much better when we get irritated at them for little things like their failure to install a new roll of toilet paper upon using the last one!
SO ROCK ON TUCKER MAX--YOU SHOULD DO STAND UP!
One of your few female fans--God love ya!

If people are too sensitive or like Tucker would say, "can't take a joke", then don't read this book. Otherwise, be prepared to laugh out loud and enjoy some good storytelling and easy reading. Very entertaining and actually informative information (be that it is mostly sexual and alcohol knowledge) is contained in this book. The mind of the male college party animal is exposed and to a degree the college female psyche is exposed in these stories. Whether it's the sexy model, girl next door, desperate, horny, ugly, or your average college girl. A lot is exposed and talked about in a realistic, `don't hold your tongue' way. And all in good fun and laughs too.
Some of the down points of this book were that a lot of these stories were either embellished, exaggerated or even slightly made up. The grammar and spelling was pretty bad too. Editor definitely needs to do a better job next time (e.g. - page 50 of the soft cover has `tired' instead of `tried').
At times some of Tucker's bragging, narcissism, and exaggerations made me want to say: "I think I've read enough of these frat-like stories" But nevertheless if you keep on going the book will grow on you. Besides, the book reads so easily and fast that you'll be laughing, reminiscing, vicariously living, that you won't really be bothered.

Rich, privileged and an absolute idiot; this is a loose collection of Tucker anecdotes (many of which are blatant exaggerations or lies) that serves no purpose than to let you know how rich and privileged he is.
Avoid like the plague.
