“Scotty's story has not only motivated me to trust in the Lord, but also to make the most of all circumstances in life, good and bad. Scotty is the epitome of the old adage, ‘when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.’ Life handed him a gigantic lemon and he's in turn trusted God and is making lemonade by the barrel. I finished the book in 4 hours.
Maybe I have a slightly biased opinion of the book- I have been privileged enough to personally meet CPT Smiley and hear him talk about his experiences, as well as being present at his book signing a few days after I finished it. But regardless, the story is touching, honest, and heart wrenching. I cried on the plane twice, both times having the person next to me choked up describing the book and the parts of it. I also caught myself laughing and smiling to myself, rejoicing where the author rejoiced.
I have truly never read a better book. CPT Smiley's story of the return of his faith, as well as the amazing faith of his wife, is unparalleled. I have recommended this book to EVERYONE I have talked to. You will not be able to put the book down once you start it.
Growing up in Pasco and remembering watching and reading stories about our "Local Hero" and his story I first thought poor guy that's so sad. Scotty has sure turned that thought around and thou what happened is sad, everything Scotty has done
since then is nothing short of Amazing!
Thank you Scotty, Tiffany and Doug for sharing this inspiring story with me and
so many others!!
