Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable.
Hotter than hades......
Well; I tried to put off reading this but I couldn't stand it - like having a box of chocolates under your nose and you're trying to not eat one but the smell sucks you into. This book was in my Kindle, right under my fingertips and I had to read it…..just COULD.NOT.WAIT.
So; Kat is quite the woman. Very strong. Very in control. Very logical in her thinking and in controlling her emotions. She's lost so much so who could blame her for her strength in keeping herself reigned in? Except for her daughters she keeps herself under lock and key emotionally.
BUT; as this book starts out – Kat is traveling to Texas.
She wants to know more about her beloved father who died several years before, and 'Bear' who is an MC President, promises her some answers. As her trip unravels, she finds out that nothing is as it seemed in her life. This reader was shocked at the revelations she found in Texas. I feel she handled it all very rationally.....something I personally liked because she didn't get all spastic about all the reveals.
I liked the MC family she found. There is one particular bitch, however......she can go away. Hope she gets herself in trouble, or something. She needs to disappear. She annoyed me. I would also question why a certain man married that witch when clearly he didn’t have to. The man in question: is he uber strong to have done what he has done to Kat or is he weak in that he let the love of his life go? I’m sure book two will give us more of what has driven the man to his actions.
This book is fairly short and leaves us at a juncture. We know Kat is going home to her two daughters. We know her third daughter will be joining her eventually. We know Kat is resolved in that she's lost the man she loved - that she'll move ahead with her life. Can she stay safe in the cocoon that’s been awarded to her by all the men who love her?
The second book of this series is out when? Today works for me. Next week.....doable. Next month......I might require chocolate in order to wait a month. More than a month....geez......this could take a boat-load of chocolate. The good part of waiting - the one good part - is that I'll need to reread this book before the next comes out - right before it comes out. I actually love rereading before a new issue comes out!
Thank you Ms. Cummings for feeding my voracious reading appetite. The writing is excellent, as is your usual modus operandi. I've enjoyed all your books and I'm looking forward to what comes next.
Katrina was a short, sweet librarian looking single and expectant mother who's had her heartbroken, but she's made the best of her life. She lives for her children and doesn't spend her days with a "woe is me" attitude. When her world gets flipped, she doesn't freak or cause drama. She handles it quite admirably. I know I wouldn't have been as composed as she was. She showed up to get answers and that's what she got. She was feisty, a bit awkward in some ways and real.
This story was sweet and emotional and a bit heartbreaking. I couldn't decide if I hated a certain someone or if I loved him. Kat held much more forgiveness in her heart than I could and that's what was so tender and sweet about it...and I want more. I can't wait for the second part to this duet. I need to know how it truly ends for these characters, because if anyone deserves a happy ending, it's Kat.
Fast forward to the present and I could beat the sh*t out of Brent/Ryker for all the heartache he put her through. I'm just beyond words with that whole mess he's in now and how he got himself suckered into that situation. Why would he treat Kat like he did and then be a big pus*y and fold into stupid demands, I mean he's a biker come on.
Can't wait for the next book to see how it all plays out.
