The books opened with descriptions of several cakes Hope had made in the past -- not the best way to pull me in. I thought it strange that Michael would have an old-fashioned silver diner pained teal blue with teak wood shutters. I also found “alright” to be used over a dozen times. However, the novel turned out to be a good read. I gave it 4.5 stars, which rounded up to a five.
The writing is well done, and the characters are personable.
The story is written entirely from Hope`s point of view. We know about her fears, her hopes and insecurities.
A really lovely book - fairly straightforward. I had received this book as an ARC and really enjoyed it. There were no real surprises, no thrills, just a normal kind of love story that we all hope to find one day.
