What an amazing addition to this series and I can't wait to see how it all ends in the final 3rd book. --Jenni Buchert, Reader

I hate rehashing the story and spoiling it for those of you who haven't read it, so I'll just tell you what I loved! First and foremost, Trinity felt like an even stronger character here--she might still have some self-doubts, but overall I felt she could kick butt and take names like it was nobody's business.
Certain questions I had inthe first book, like Trinity's father's missing memories, were answered, and there was a certain twist involving one of Trinity's friends that I did not see coming at all!
Speaking of Trinity's friends, Morpheus and Crystal were a crackup! Honestly, anything with them in it had me giggling.
Okay, for the part y'all really want to know about--the romance!!!-- I sort of have a thing for bad boys, and Blain--aye ca-rumba! Let's just say he's a little bit wicked and the boy wears it well!
And that ending!!! THAT. ENDING. Oh my gosh, I need the next book now!
Why must you kill me so with your endings??
A very frustrated reader. (aka me)
Note: I finished this book several days ago. It's just taken me a bit to form worthy thoughts as to what I wanted to say....
I feel like I've waited an eternity and a day for more Morpheus. (And Blain and Trinity too) But alas, it was more than worth the wait. I adored HD2. Definitely didn't expect some I'd the twists, but really, I'm not surprised either. Angela's writerly chops are phenomenal.
Weaving together tension, angst, twists and turns, and lots of sexual tension, I can't even begin to rec this series high enough, especially for fans of fantasy novels. Well done, A. Well. Done.
For anyone in love with YA paranormal, this book is straight out Heaven on Earth. The plot is creative as heck, and I found myself picturing the scenes so vividly I was holding my breath a few times!
And Blain. Oh Blain. Boy, are you a hottie! Without giving anything away, let me just say your hardcore wicked streak in this book made me into even more of a fangirl. For the new reader interested in a wild ride with deep-rooted love and violent twists, I urge you to move backward until you reach Hope's Decree. You'll devour both books so fast, you'll be asking yourself—where did the time go?!
Congrats, Angela. Another awesome read.
This book was really good. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal romances with intrigue. Also anyone who loves mythological stories. I think this book would also be great for anyone who loves stories about young adults coming into their power and place in life as well. I am looking forward to reading more the third book in this series and seeing how the trilogy ends.
I’m giving this book 4 hearts
Reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock
Hope's Deceit by Angela McPherson picks up the morning after the events of Hope's Decree. Please note that if you have not read book one of this series, there are minor unavoidable spoilers in this review. Trinity has just been rescued by Blain and Morpheus from being tortured by Melia. Feeling betrayed by one of their own, the Watchers pour in to Blain's home and start to plan. None feel Trinity has what it takes to fulfill prophecy, and Trinity is out to prove them wrong.
So I love Trinity! She is just a teenage girl who wants teenage things, but when faced with the fate of the world she rises to the challenge. She is stubborn, a fighter, and no longer the scared girl we saw at the beginning of the series. Melia's actions changed her. Her thinking is a bit darker, but her motivation rocks! She will do whatever it takes to save her friends, her family, and Blain.
Blain...oh my!! So in the first book, he wasn't really my favorite character. He was too-straight laced and by the book. He expected so much out of Trinity and refused to give into his feelings for her. In this book, after nearly losing her, he can't get enough of her. There's only one problem....remember that black blast at the end of Hope's Decree? Yeah...let's just say that comes back to bite them all!!! Blain is just as overprotective of Trinity as he always has, but he is also struggling with this darkness that threatens to consume not just him but everyone he cares for.
The plot of this book really focuses on the Watchers and Rogues and the prophecy surrounding Trinity. There are so many twists and turns in the book that your head will spin so be prepared for that! No one is who they seem to be and it leaves Trinity on guard, not trusting anyone, even Blain. She questions everything, as she should, and ultimately she kicks butt. She has no reservations when it comes to defending those she loves and in this book she really starts to come into her powers. It's fabulous :D
Overall I really enjoyed this book! So why 4 stars and not 5? Well, it starts off a bit of a hot mess. There's a lot of action and a lot of dialogue that I really had a hard time following. By about 20%, I could follow it easily, but in the beginning I kept going back to be sure I hadn't missed a page. Now this may be because of how long it's been since I read the first book. I really needed a good refresher of the characters. If you enjoy young adult romance, fantasy, and a bit of mythology, than this is the book for you!
