To start off I didn't see any game play for this game, nor did I even know what the story line was about. The only thing I heard about this game was that it was announced at E3. I was shocked at how well this game was put together. The combat concepts, the main characters story line, the side quests all add to the game play. I have to say that the AI is some of the best that I've played against in a long time. But, the best part of this game so far is that no matter what level you are if your not careful you can be overwhelmed and killed in combat. This game takes strategy and skill. It's not for people who are inexperienced at video games.

This is an amazing game that every time I pick up, I just can't put it down for several hours.
PROS:
- No game does bow and arrow hunting quite like Horizon - different bows and arrows for different enemies
- Ability to hack a mount to explore the gigantic terrain (map size is ridiculous)
- Variety of enemies, and types of enemies (eg. humans, medium and large normal machines, corrupted machines [same attacks, but much more aggressive])
- Beautiful terrains and ecosystems, each with its own harmonizing soundtrack and vibe.
- Dialogue, sound effects, machine noises, and soundtrack marry together so well (I am always in the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next
- Side missions are expansive and do not feel repetitive at all, even if it is a similar activity (eg. hunting, caldrons, tall necks, bandit camps, etc.)
- The bigger the machine that you take down, the more loot and chance at rarer modifications it has.
- Ability to skip most conversations and get to the mission faster (seems minor, but not all great RPGs do this)
- Captivating story line makes you care about the characters and what the hell happened to humanity and machines before the rise of the machines
CONS:
- Enemy AI is dumbed down a LOT for easy mode, which is fine, as I am used to playing on Hard (usually I start with normal on most games, but I wanted a challenge)
All in all, I don't usually do game reviews on Amazon, but I felt obligated to talk about this epic tale, so if you buy one game this year, make it this one.

Horizon is possibly the most beautiful game to date for the PS4, played at a solid 30 FPS and with an unusual high level of polish for a first time open world action RPG by developer Geurrilla . Gameplay is where this game shines, often providing a never ending array of activities to side track the main story to collect or fight something that will inevitably help support an upgrade, or teach you how to better strategically take on the post-post-apocalyptic landscape, machine beasts, or bandits. There's a ton of influence from your favorite open world games, towering beats to climb, outposts, hunting activities, easy and purposeful crafting, and side missions that have a better setup and dialogue than the generic fetch quest itself. Then there's the true surprise that is the fully fleshed out story and world of Horizon, the creative take on religion, the separation of society, and a personal tale with a genuinely relatable main protagonist. If you have a PS4 and enjoy third person action, you owe it to yourself to play Horizon and envelope yourself in this insanely fun gameplay mechanics and story.

Wow!! This game is simply amazing, anything and everything a game is judged and criticized this game SCORES a 10/10. I love open world games so this was just up my alley. The game starts off strong gets you into the struggle the main character is into and makes you want to keep playing to find out what's next. Honestly if you're NEW to open world games (RPG) this is just for you, I own both consoles X1 and PS4 and feel sorry other players can't experience this GAME!!!

I questioned whether this game would be too much like Far Cry or other weak Ubisoft open world games but the main story arch is fairly strong and there are always plenty of questions keeping you interested until the game is finished. I don't think any of the RPG mechanics in the game are that strong but you go into the title basically expecting an action adventure game you shouldn't be too disappointed. I have a lot of hope for what a sequel could do but I'm also concerned that a sequel wouldn't be able to play on the strong initial mystery of being dropped into the world for the first time.

Love this game! I am a pretty casual gamer. I only really play Lego Games and Tomb Raider games to "completion". I'm not very good with complicated gameplay. This game was SO FUN! The world is huge, the storyline is unique and really grabs you, plus the side quests and collectables are awesome! I don't know if I would ever replay it but if there is ever DLC I will buy it and enjoy every extra hour I will get to play it!

Wow, a great experience. I absloutly love this game. Honestly I wasn't as interested in this game when they were showing it off at E3 a few years back (another game is Days Gone but I'm hoping Sony proves me wrong again) I knew I would eventually try it out at a price drop and I'm happy I finally got the opportunity to for $40. The setting, the boss battles, the characters, the story are all on point. Super fun gameplay, I enjoyed using all the weapons and whatever advantages to take out enemies. If you trophy hunt I think this is one platinum you will truly have fun and enjoy obtaining. The game won't be for everyone obviously.. I'd say if you enjoy Shadow of Mordor (amazing game btw) Assassins Creed style of gameplay. You can't go wrong with this one.

I cant say enough about this game. My first challenge with most RPG's or FPS' of any genre is many of them tend to be way to short in duration. This game is MASSIVE. The graphics are beyond stunning. I never encountered a single glitch. Its hard, but not impossible. The story lines is extremely creative, and puts a great spin on the typical "robots take over the planet" theme. I cant recommend this game enough!!

...just, WOW. The scenery alone is worth the price of the game. I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic fiction in general, so just wandering around in this world is worth it. I haven't seen a game this gorgeous since MGS4 for the PS3, and even then, this is a step above. You have to hunt a lot of animals/machines to build up your health/stamina/arsenal, so as long as you're okay with that kind of repetitive task, I don't see "finishing" a game like this in less than a month or two (darn those pesky responsibilities like "employment"). There are several obviously different climates to roam around it, so even the gathering of resources doesn't get boring. I love the Tomb Raider series, so when I saw the previews for this I got real hot and bothered, and I was definitely right in my expectations. BUY IT! And then buy the huge, beautiful coffee-table-book-size guide book that goes with it!
