I felt like I had been dropped in the middle of a ...

Where do I begin? I felt like I had been dropped in the middle of a story because stuff was going on in the beginning of the book that left me feeling a bit confused since there had been no build-up to it. It just happened. A couple of times it referenced Kate getting kicked out of Timber Ridge by Mrs Dean, but the only time I can remember Kate leaving was when she and Holly had gotten into a fight so Kate moved Tapestry to Dr Evans' place...she wasn't kicked out. The difficulties facing Sue and her family were briefly talked about in the beginning, but then nothing else was mentioned. But a sacred Indian burial ground? Really? And for Mr Dean to offer the amount of money he did was a bit far-fetched. This wasn't one of Maggie Dana's better stories.

Perfect for young Horse Lovers!

Book 11 in this series was well worth the wait. Not only does Maggie Dana advance the plotline for our two well-known heroines Kate and Holly, but she introduces new characters and new ponies in this book as well. And parents, if you were afraid Timber Ridge Riders was going to stray away from horses, or be heavy on boyfriends and romantic snafus, Horse Camp makes it clear that this series is still family-friendly, sweet, and firmly in the middle grade camp. Perfect for young horse enthusiasts!

I love the introduction of the sensible Norwegian Fjord and other ponies into the plotline, as well as some memorable younger characters, who I'm sure we will see again. Meanwhile, Kate and Holly just accomplish one main goal in their lives (getting their parents married,) only to become embroiled in another (saving Timber Ridge Stables from a disastrous construction project.) Not to mention guiding several rather inept younger girls through a summer Horse Camp. Extremely readable, and filled delightful characters and situations, #11 in this series is a winner!
