I would have given this ball 5 stars if directions were better. I would have given it one star if I had to review on the day I blew it up. The manufacturer recommends you buy the cover, or the ball may not last long. Read all the reviews so you will be emotionally prepared for this test of your nerves preparing this ball for use. If you have nerve pills, take one. Alcohol...a stiff one. Plan on two hours. Snacks, chairs, shade. If you have a big family , use the enclosed manual pump to inflate the ball. Take turns. Think of it like CPR...for an hour. An electric air pump is best. You have to put the ball inside the cover before the blow up....making sure the ball air hole stays at the small cover opening. This is the first time you will start questioning your purchase. If you can get it accomplished..great. Knowing when to stop pumping air is your biggest challenge. No help from the manufacturer. They suggest you keep measuring the ball. Kind of hard to measure the height of a round gigantic ball. If you have a horse measuring stick with a sliding right angle at the top......that would be a big help. Or if you are not alone one can hold a stick across the top of the ball , while the other measures down to ground....40". Manufacturer tells you to check "the bounce"..But doesn't say how high.. Although you realize that the cover, in the pictures on the box, looks tight to the ball..........still the suspense builds as the ball gets very tight while the cover still has 6 inches of loose fabric hanging. You know the ball can't roll with fabric hanging. The horse will step on it. At this point you will start to wonder if you should have washed the cover first, so it can shrink. Not an option. It was so hard to get the ball inside the cover...Read more ›

If you are getting a cover stay away from the soccer style as they are a pain to resew when your horse tears them up. Get a cover though because the covers really do seem to protect the ball from debris in the pasture. The beach ball style is quick and easy to fix. Like the other review mentioned the pump is worthless.

Instead of me writing a review, here is my horse's review of the ball. He really loves his. His ball from last year has a slow leak and we can't find it so we are getting a new one this year. This ball holds up pretty good compared to others in this price range. I know there are more expensive balls out there, but I haven't tried one yet to compare durability.

This may be a good ball for horses, but...I own 2 Labrador retrieves who love to play with larger inflated balls. They push them around with their noses and paws, jump over them, and play almost a soccer game to control them. The vinyl of the jolly ball did not hold up, and they popped it within the first few minutes. I have tried many types of exercise balls, with varied results. The best, by far ball is the "gold's gym" exercise ball (yellow matches the size), which costs about $9.00 sold through Walmart. The material it is made of has proven to be much more cut resistant plastic. Make sure to over inflate the ball. I have been using the ball for 2 months and still going strong. I have order a couple of extras, just in case

I bought 2 of the Mega Jolly Balls and 2 of the ball covers, they were delivered on 08/27/2014 and I took them from the box and inflated them according to the instructions (I used the foot pump, A measuring stick and they were inflated inside the corresponding sized cover). Both balls burst within two minutes in the yard and Horsemen's pride is refusing to replace or reimburse these products. I will not be buying anything from them again. I feel that these products were defective but if they were not, they certainly were not made to withstand a horse. Don't waste your money.

This thing has two major problems:
1. It comes with the cheapest pump I've ever encountered, so after you finally give up on it and go get another pump you're already in the red; and
2. The blurb on the box tells you that the toy is tough but you 'may wish' to buy a cover for it -- sold separately, of course. Unless the cover is made of chain mail, won't make any difference at all -- this ball was ruined by the pawing of a 200 lb. animal (yup, not an adult, not even shod) in less than 10 minutes of play. I wasted money on this one, for sure.

My horse LOVES these big balls, but they don't hold up to his playing with them. He bounces them, chases them up and down hills - just has a great time with them, but the last three popped within a couple of days.

I purchased this ball for a 250 pound miniature horse - I inflated as per instructions - gave it to my mini & it lasted less than 1 HOUR! **************I did contact Horseman's Pride & they've agreed to send me a new ball free of charge, but I have yet to receive it (10 days from time of contact).

Not sure if the product is worth the expense.

I purchased 3 balls within 6 weeks. It took 2 weeks for my horses to break the first ball; 3 days for them to kill the 2nd and then 1 day for the last ball. The material seams are fairly week and the ball develops leaks very quickly when in use. While they had a lot of fun with it, I would not buy another given the quality.
