I tried several other shields that claimed to work with the MEGA, but I couldn't get them to work. I contacted the manufacturer of 'ITEAD Compatible USB HOST Shield For Arduino' from RobotShop to verify that it was compatible with the MEGA and they told me, and I quote, "Troubleshoot it yourself." I'll I was looking for was verification so that I wasn't fighting with something that would never work. Anyway, after seeing someone else's post about connecting a PS3 controller to their robot, I noticed they were using this Keyes shield, so I ordered one. I already had my wiring and code, so like magic it just worked.

Works great.
i bought this originally for my arduino uno but i use it with my mega so i could eventually use a PS3 remote to control the robot I am in the process of making.
while i have not yet used the PS3 remote itself i have used this shield with a few other things. I've tested it with a mouse and it worked great, though i have not yet gotten the chance to try a wireless mouse, but i am presuming it will work just as great.
if you buy this, i recommend you buy some usb bluetooth dongles as well. i found some preety cheap ones that work great which can be found here: Generic 2 X Mini USB Bluetooth V2.0 Dongle Wireless Adapter (Bluetoothx2)
used them to connect my arduino mega with my kindle fire and send data back and forth so this device has many uses.

Works perfectly, bought a third party 2.4GHz PS3 controller, used the library on github from the Arduino website, and it worked immediately the first time I tried it. My only problem was it was a bit difficult to stick on, but that ended up being fine.
