About Hot Chocolate Design
Founded in 2004 by Pablo Martínez & Carolina Aguerrevere, Hot Chocolate Design emerges into the Venezuelan market as a local fresh and innovative accessories brand, based on the consumers need of fleeing away from the uniformity and creative rigidity provided by mass produced brands.
We define HCD as a design brand which occasionally blends with art as the concept, design and fabrication of each item we produce – shoes, bathing suits, purses, bags, home products, among others – is intended to reflect the individuality of each item. Betting on our customers need for originality, we offer limited collections and our retired products have become collectors items for many of our fans.
The inspiration behind HCD comes mainly from our own lifestyle; our passion for collecting vintage items and certain nostalgia for all of the things that made us feel happy and comfortable when we were young. In our design brainstorms, we draw from items, colors, textures and patterns that we treasured in our infancy as well as our yearning to come across them again in our adult lives, transformed as Hot Chocolate Design one of a kind accessories.

Although a Venezuelan company, these shoes are made in China, which totally negates the high price tag. They arrive not in a shoe box, but in a very sturdy, reusable ice cream sandwich storage box with a drawer. The box alone would easily sell for $20.
Although completely colored, surprisingly, there was no odor that often accompanies dyed items from China.
The platform heal looks and feels nice and provides adequately comfortable support, and there didn't seem to be a "breaking in" period as my daughter wore them around half the day without any issues. The nicely rounded toe means even people with wide feet will appreciate these shoes. The overall quality of this shoe is superb, exceeding all of my expectations. The only issue I have is there are so many unique designs available, choosing which pair to buy could result in having to buy several pair. I highly recommend these shoes and will definitely buy again!
The main issue I have with these is that they are wildly overpriced, especially for what is mostly a canvas shoe. You're obviously paying for the adorable design here, but I really think they need to lower the price a little. It's just too much. The only reason I bought these is because I've never seen shoes this cute. I love the bows on the back! The entire design is great, except the shape of the actual shoe.
Would I recommend these? Of course I would, but don't expect to be able to walk much in them, sadly. Their flats are much more comfortable & fitting. I just wish they weren't so expensive, being all canvas. You don't even pay that much for real sewn together designs from leather or fake leather or rubber, so why should you have to pay like 3-4 times the amount for canvas with a design printed on it? Just doesn't make much sense really....
I knocked one star off because these shoes came with a brutal chemical smell that made everyone in the house dizzy, so it forced me to keep them outside to air out for about 24 hours or so.
