Pros:
Relatively affordable
Waterproof for almost anything but full submersion
Keeps multiple extensions from disconnecting

Cons:
Slightly bulky
Black plastic part which holds connector may move

Best of water resistant cord connector I have found, works great although I wish it was a couple of bucks cheaper.

As far as waterproofing goes, it looks like it would take major splashes, just about anything short of dropping it in the pool. For most cases, this will work just fine.

As far as the build quality goes, it is better than similar products I have seen and used. treat it well and it will last years.And the clasp which hold the halves together feels very sturdy. My only problem is that the black part inside does move some of the time. For me, the best part is being able to hook up multiple electrical cords and tug all I want knowing that they won't be coming apart.

No leaks, no electrical fires

I got 2 and they both worked great. I had a 12g ext cord in one end and a christmas light plug in the other, left sitting on the ground in the rain and snow for over a month and when I opened it up, it was completely dry. Made me feel a lot better than having all my cords laying in the mud for a month.

Not exactley water tight

The safety seal is bigger than you might think from the photo and its not totally water tight. I ordered three of them and they worked fine until last weekend when my landscape lights started tripping the breaker. I checked them and found that they all had a little water in them, not much but evidently enough to trip the breaker. I dried them out and all is ok for now. To be fair, I've had them in rain before without any problems and this was very heavy sustained rainfall but still they're advertised as water tight. I have another that's a screw in model that Amazon offers that didn't have any problems so if they keep getting wet inside I'll be replacing them.

Great design at a great price!

I used these to connect 12/3 (20 amp, 12 awg) outdoor extension cords to my roofing heat cable controllers. Plenty of internal room for the large 15 amp rated extension cord replacement ends that I used to build my custom length cords. The rubber end seals fit nice and tight around the outside diameter of the heavy duty 12/3 extension cord. The snap lock cover compresses the rubber seal around the circumference to keep out water and insects. The adjustable tension minder (black plastic "L" shaped internal piece that you locate against the plug connection inside) incorporated in the design works great to keep the plug ends tightly engaged while hanging vertically. This device makes a very weather and insect resistant (but not a watertight) connection for your cords. do not submerge or allow it to lay in puddled water and you'll be fine with this well thought out design.

I had to make the holes larger on each end

I had to drill the ends out so that a 12/3 extension cord would fit, in additon on the other end is an electric heated bucket where the cord is wrapped in anti-chew wire. At first I just squeezed the cover closed and then worried later that it might cause the cords to become pinched so I used my 5/8 inch drill bit to make the holes bigger so the cords would fit better. I am more concerned about them laying on the wet ground than rain, because I only use this setup during freezing temps, so there's less likely to be rain in freezing temperatures.

The ends are a hard rubber which is supposed to help seal the cords away from water and I easily drilled a 5/8 inch hole in it and then scraped out the rubbery part with my box cutter. But really they should make the holes larger to accommodate larger cords.
I included a picture of one end, and although the hole now looks huge hole it's only 5/8, like I said.

I got six of these last year for my outdoor Christmas lights and they worked exactly as advertised! We had a heavy winter with above average number and depth of snowfalls in 2014 and the outdoor electrical connections stayed dry and completely weathertight in these little wonders. As a bonus--and I assume this is related--none of my lights ever lost power and all 8 strings are lighting again perfectly this year! I just ordered two more for the laser lights I'm trying out for 2015. Six bucks apiece, you can't go wrong.
