Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Hot Max 125WFG MIG Welder comes ready to weld with or without shielding gas. Welds up to ¼” mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. This portable MIG welder operates on 120 Volt single phase power (standard household power) so you can use it almost anywhere. Other machines require costly MIG conversion kits, but our machine is fully MIG ready and includes an Argon/CO2 regulator and hose. One special feature is that our machines have infinitely adjustable wire feed AND Voltage Control which both can be adjusted while you weld! No cumbersome selector switches that limit your voltage settings to a few choices. The Hot Max MIG welders are also factory pre-wired for the optional Hot Max SPG spool gun – no conversion kits where you need to rewire the machine to get the spool gun to work. The Hot Max MIG welder easily switches polarity so switching between gas welding and flux core welding is a snap. The ground clamp and MIG gun are easily removed which makes our machine easy to move from one location to another. Wire is electrically “cold” when you are not welding and machine has thermal overload protection. Includes 125 Amp MIG welder, ground clamp with 9’ cable, MIG gun with 10’ hose, Argon/CO2 regulator and 5’ gas hose, 2# spool of .030” flux core wire, .025” & .030” & .035” contact tips, gas nozzle for gun, 10# spool adapter, and driver roller that fits .025” to .035” wire (drive wheel for larger wire also available separately). Shielding gas is not included.

Very nice to have the continuous amperage and wire feed. This welder is a complete starter package. No running around buying the 10 pound spool adapter and the regulator for gas etc. This little guy does all I need it to and more. It has a lot of power and overloaded my 15 amp circuit. I reccomend a 20 amp circuit with a good extension cord for heavier metals. My extension cord was whimpy which did not help. Mind you I only tripped the breaker once and have welded a lot with this welder.

The costumer service is very nice as well. I have a broken insulator. They sent me out two new ones without a hitch.

I just received my Hot Max 125 and for the money, I think it would be nearly impossible to find a better portable welder. In fact, I would say it is better than many more expensive models. Using a 125 amp Lincoln model it is harder to get precise weld results from flux-core wire...however, the Hot Max 125 is very precise and due to the infinite wire feed AND infinate voltage. The penetration is excellent and so far, I have no complaints, what-so-ever. If I find issues or more benefits I will update this review, but to this point, I think the money has served me well.

I like this welder. Inexpensive- nothing fancy. Easy to set up and run. Definitely invest in a bottle of gas and use it in that mode (reverse the polarity per the instructions). Welding with the gas is much easier, you'll get cleaner welds and it doesn't stink/smoke as much as the flux core wire. Also worth checking/tightening the fittings on the included gas regulator. Mine didn't arrive fully tightened from the factory and I wasted a bottle of gas. A bit heavy to lug around but overall pretty good. I'd say a bargain.

This welder really puts down a nice smooth "sizzler" of a weld compared to the last low budget welder I had. The only downside I've seen on this welder is the plastic roller frame parts in the wire feed mechanism, which I would guess will have a much shorter life span than the parts in my last welder. Hoping parts will be available for some time in the future, so I can keep using it.

Funny when you order something and finally get it. What you see online and what you get is two different things . My husband is going to love his welder machine. I know I was when I open the box. Very strong machine and parts of great material., not cheap at all . I just hope it does what is claims. I am shipping this welder out to DR. I am moving there and he needs it to make our gates and fences . I got this one because of the reviews of others. And this welder is not small at all . It pretty big and is heavy. It would say its size is about 18 long by 10 wide and maybe 20 high. Don't recall the weight but its heavy.

Simply put, this welder works great! It does an excellent job on everything from 22 gauge sheet metal to 1/4" steel plate. I think that it would even have the power to weld thicker, but I haven't gotten to try... yet. I have also only used it with flux core wire so far, and will probably only switch to gas when I have to do some stainless; because the flux core works great. I especially like the fact that the flux core can burn through some paint and a little rust, and still give you a great weld on thinner material. The only additional thing you might want to get the most out of this welder is a 'flux core nozzle'. I got one at Home Depot for like 3 bucks, and it lets you get into tighter spaces without messing up your gas nozzle. Other than that, this machine comes ready to rock!

I bought this guy for work because I needed a welder in Florida (I live in Indiana) and drive a Chevy Sonic hatchback. It's small, fairly light, and runs off of 110v.

I took it out of the box and assembled without having to look for instructions. It's faily intuitive. I fed up the included flux-core wire (until I can get a bottle) and thought I'd try it out.

Layed a couple beads on some 18 gauge mild steel I had laying around. Power and feed settings were pretty good in the chart. Then I tried some 1/4" angle iron. It's about all the machine will do without some serious dressing first, but that's exactly what they advertise, so what should I expect?

Overall I'm happy with it so far, and will update when I get back from Florida if it doesn't hold up as expected.

This is my first wire feed welder. It does a great job. I bought it to build a smoker. I'm using 16 gauge steel and I needed something smaller than my stick welder. I am VERY happy with this welder. It does a great job with the thinner material. I have yet to have it blow through. It is awesome that this welder came ready for gas. I haven't bought the gas and used it that way yet. The flux core, although lots of spatter, does a great job for what I need. I'm doing my welding in my driveway outside my garage so the flux core is best since the wind would likely blow my shielding gas away. It is infinitely adjustable with the voltage and wire speed. Changing spools is very easy as well. It also has a great chart on the inside of the cover that gives recommended wire speeds, voltage, and wire size depending on material thickness.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the threaded part of larger tip housing came loose and I had to glue it back in. (sorry I don't know the technical terms).

It was a very easy fix, I wasn't really surprised at this since it was not a super expensive welder.

I'm very happy with this welder and I would recommend it to any hobbyist welder.
