At some point, to save money, the vendor went from including an actual printed recipe/instruction book to NOT including any instructions for the product at all on or in the packaging. I find this rather obnoxious, and think they should at minimum provide the information in attached image on/in the package. The image is the key most important pages of old .pdf manual you can find online (while even the web pages listed in the manual are no longer hosted.) Instead it comes with a postcard telling you to "Download Pasta Recipes eBook Now!". "1.Open your fb messanger app, search for scan code" (NOT A TYPO by me: it does say fb messanger instead of FB Messenger), "2.Scan our FB qr code (image number 1)", "3.Tap "Get Started" button".. Frankly facebook already has too much advertising and spam related to tasks you do with it, not everyone wants to download stupid apps or even have a facebook account. Why they couldn't just have a facebook public group page where you could view an album of all the pages of recipe book is beyond me.
I have a very old small microwave (.6 cu ft/625watt). I generally only cook for myself. I made pasta in my microwave before buying this. I used to use a large microwave safe bowl over a plate (because it always boiled over), grab it with a pot holder and toss it into a strainer/collinder over the sink. This is much more convenient for the most part. Unlike my old method, this is to big to rotate freely in my microwave. The bottom size of the pasta boat makes sense (and fits on the rotating glass plate in microwave). It is just big enough to open a box of spaghetti and drop it in without having to break the pasta. The PROBLEM is the top of the pasta boat spreads out so far in all directions that it becomes to large to freely rotate unless you have a much larger microwave (at minimum 1.1 cu ft, possibly closer to 1.6 cu ft depending on the design layout). I haven't tried cooking more then 2# of pasta at a time in mine, but it doesn't come anywhere close to boiling over doing 2#.
The handles are garbage. They are constantly slipping out. While the handles don't get hot, you can't just grab the handles and rotate to drain it. You have to grab the handles with a few fingers and the top of lid with thumbs and squeeze slightly before rotating to drain to keep the handles from slipping out on you. The strainer lid attaches easily and works well, and is also simple to clean.
This is terrible for cooking more then 1 #of spaghetti at a time. Too much of the pasta sticks together. It might not be so bad if it freely rotated while cooking. Pastas such as shells, ziti, elbows, etc (bulky with empty space in them) cook alright in it in amounts over a pound. Cook your spaghetti, or solid noodles in smaller batches in it.
Overall this is something that could be real useful in a dorm room, or quickly cooking small pasta portions. Cleanup is simple, and its economical.
