Brody is Chris's brother whom we met in several of the books so far. Brody is over 10 years younger than Chris but they share an apartment, when Brody is not on missions, and of course when Chris is not over at Darci's house....with the headboard hitting the wall (lol).
Brody has started feeling lonely and not complete, but he is not going to have a meaningful relationship because he never knows if he is coming back from a mission. ALSO, he was in love before he joined the military with a girl back in Alabama, Ashley. They grew up together and she was his first and he hers. But, when he asked her to leave everything and move with him, she said no. She had hopes and dreams too. She wanted to go to college and become a nurse. She became a nurse in a hospital 2 hours away from where they all grew up.
Now 10 years later, we learn that both have never stopped thinking of each other. Ashley resigned from the hospital and moved back home because he Nana, who raised her, broke her wrist. About that time, Brody’s Grandmother became ill and needed a nurse, so for the last 3 months, Ashley has been caring for her too.
When Brody comes home he finds Ashley and the passion was still there for both of them. This could not work for them. She lived in Alabama and he in Virginia and he was gone a lot on missions, right? After two great days of passion and hot passion, Brody is called back to his unit and he leaves. He doesn’t call Ashley right away and she is hurt. Finally he gets one call in and he says that he loves her. But, she doesn’t hear from him again and weeks have gone by. Is he okay, hurt, dead? Ashley is a mess.
This book could easily be a 5+ but the romance is "sweet" not HOT HOT HOT. But, I do like Ms. Johnson writing style, just saying.
We find out that Rick Mann(book 5) has resigned from GAPS and doing something else. You have to read to find out!!
I love this series so much, and Brody and Ashley's story is just so great!! Cat's writing as always, is so fantastic and so heartwarming... this seal series is one of my favorites of all time!
After returning from a 6 month deployment Brody Cassidy hits the strip club right outside the base to quench a couple thirsts. While talking with his friends over a couple beers he decides to go home to visit his family in Alabama since it's been too long between visits. Once arranges leave he heads home. Only he arrives to find his grandmother has been I'll and he didn't know it...and the nurse caring for her is none other than the ex-love-of-his-life Ashley. He'd asked her to marry him, but because of the constraints put on military spouses and her own aspirations...she told him no. It's been a long time since he's seen her, and he finds out the hard way that nothing has changed. Time nor distance has made a difference in how he feels about her...still!
When Ashley looks out the window to see who had arrived after hearing a truck pull in...she is shocked to see her old love exiting the vehicle. With her heart beating a tattoo in her chest and a shiver going up her spine she meets him at the door to explain why she is in his family home. Sparks still fly between them...and she realizes that this will be harder than she imagined.
This story is probably the dream come true for all those women out there who have lost their first loves and wish it could've ended differently. Wonderful story...I can almost hear the Alabama accents and feel the emotions of the reuniting couple. Two thumbs way up! Recommend!
I have enjoyed all of Cat Johnson's Hot SEALs stories and this one is no exception. It is well written with well fleshed out characters. It has lots of action and delicious love scenes. This is a great read and I highly recommend it.
This is a great series, the characters are awesome and engaging. It makes for a fun read and some very passionate scenes. This was a great read.
