Quick Facts About Bed Bugs
Bed bugs take time and patience to control, and taking a persistent, comprehensive approach is the key to taking care of the problem as quickly as possible. A systematic, three-step cycle of thorough detection, consistent treatment with products registered by the EPA for use against bed bugs, and prevention against spread and reinfestation will help you gain control.
Bed bugs cannot jump or fly.
Bed bugs in large numbers produce a sweet, musky odor.
Bed bugs cannot crawl easily on slippery surfaces.
Bed bugs are often a challenge to detect. Bites may be the first indicator that you have a problem, but you can confirm the presence of bed bugs in large numbers through their smell which is a sweet, musky odor. You may also notice rust-colored spots on your bedding or mattress. Sometimes you may see adult bed bugs in the mattress folds or on the wall behind the headboard. You can also detect bed bugs by using bed bug detection products around your home to give you a warning of bed bugs. These glue traps or interceptor devices monitor bed bug activity and provide a barrier between the floor, your bed, and furniture. This is an important tool for frequent travelers or families with college students who may bring home bedding, furniture or laundry. Use Hot Shot Bed Bug Glue Trap or Hot Shot Bed Bug Interceptor for detection.
The Systematic Approach to Treat and Remove Bed Bugs
Treat Large Household Items
Items which cannot be laundered or heat-treated outdoors should be placed inside the Hot Shot Bedbug Mattress and Luggage Treatment Kit. Seal mattresses, box springs, furniture and luggage inside the kit’s large plastic bag for two to seven days to control bed bugs at all stages, see product label for complete directions.
Treat the Room
For larger areas or heavy infestations, a fogger can be used, but you must properly dismantle the bed, prop the mattress and box spring up against the wall and vacate the room (including pets) for at least 3 hours. Please follow all label instructions.
Treat Cracks and Crevices
Use aerosols and liquid sprays to treat the cracks and crevices where bed bugs hide. Hot Shot Bedbug and Flea Killer3 aerosol spray works best for bed frames, floorboards and baseboards. Hot Shot Bedbug and Flea Home Insect Killer2 liquid spray can be used on mattresses and box springs, but can also treat the perimeter of infested rooms, carpet or tack strips.
Treat the Perimeter
Use Hot Shot Bedbug and Flea Killer Powder against bed bugs in cracks and crevices, electrical outlets and along the edges of carpeting and baseboards.

Not even a professional can eliminate them in one shot. In order for any fogger to work properly you must cover your entire living space which includes bedrooms, living room, hallways, etc. if treating only one room, most bed bugs will scurry to the next room just to get away from the fogger.
Preparation is needed before you fog like the directions on the box state. Bedding, ALL bedding should be removed and bagged so the fogger can penetrate your bed, or furniture.
The box states that it will NOT kill bed bug eggs. Which means they will be hatching within 7 to 10 days, at that point you need to fog again.
The product works fantastic when you know exactly how to treat them!!
First I have to say that yes, I did follow the directions. As a matter of fact I went above and beyond what I should have done to help rid my home of the nasy little bugs my son brought home from a friends house. All the beds were stripped, mattress taken off box springs, even clothes were removed from his room as steam cleaned. All drawers were emptied. There is nothing more that could be thrown away. And because his room is close to the "1200 feet" the bomb says it covers I even put TWO in the room.
I went so far as to contact Hot Shot, to make sure I was not forgetting something. In their response Email they informed me that their "product worked against bed bugs and to rebomb in 2 weeks just to make sure the eggs are killed".
So we set it all up. Did the bombs, came home (and yes stupid me, I wasted even more money because I bought enough to put all through my house 'just in case" they escaped my sons quarantined and taped off room) And do you know what we found when we got to my sons room? Yup...bed bugs. And they were walking AROUND the discharged bomb.
I did read the reviews before I bought this, and its my fault for buying it. But when I was reading the reviews, about half of them said it did work. I figured the other half may have not done the bomb right. After all, it is a lot of work and prep to do a bomb.
Please save yourself some money, don't even bother trying this. I did have a few fleas from my cats. And yes.. They are even still hanging around.
