I am a massive Carly Phillips fan and have religiously read very book in her Dare series.
Sports Romance books are my favourite genre, and even though this book was light on the sports side as Brandon (H) was a retired football player, it is based around a sports agency/PR company for current & retired sports stars called the Hot Zone.
This was such a well written story, that delved into both the H & h pasts and how the things that happened to them as children still affects them today, and they then both helped one another to understand what happened to them as children shouldn't necessarily define them.
Brandon & Annabelle are a beautiful & believable couple that deserved to find their HEA's.
The story is about a young bachelor that wound up being the guardian to three young girls. He had never been around children and had no idea what to do with them. He wanted to do right by them but he did not want to give up his lifestyle. He ran an agency where he was the agent for sports figures. He was quite successful at his work but as a result his personal life suffered. He had a terrific PA and she stepped in to give the girls a "mother" figure. She was in love with Hank but he was so busy being a bachelor that he let that part of his life go as well.
The story really starts with the girls being young women. They have finished college and are a part of The Hot Zone, running it as efficiently as their uncle had done. He was still the boss but they did all the PR work and making the sports figures look good. This story is about the oldest sister. She is smart, tough, and loving. She has a lot of emotional scars from losing her parents and the fear that her sister's would be separated from each other if the uncle did not want them. She winds up with a client that is an ex-football star. She is very attracted to him but she knows he will never commit and it can never be. However, things change.
This is a very entertaining story. it is fun, enlightening, and interesting as it touches on several problems that exist in the world today. There is a bit of mystery that stays on the fringes of the story. These two have a great romance and the characters develop as they learn to trust and believe in each other as well as themselves. It is a very good read and I definitely recommend it. As with all Ms. Phillip's stories, there is a bit of sex involved. Just makes the story better to me as it helps to form a connection for the two of them.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/15/17
Yank Morgan, owner of The Hot Zone Sports Agency. Yank becomes guardians of his 3-nieces when his sister and her husband are killed in a plane crash. With the help of Lola, his personal assistant, they raise Annabelle, Sophie, and Michelle into strong women. Upon completion of their college education they become partners with Yank at The Hot Zone, which is now a Sports Agency/PR Firm. The ladies handle the PR side while Yank handles the Sports Agency side.
The Hot Zone takes on an old/new client, the once famous football player Brandon Vaughn. The construction of Brandon's resort is being sabotaged, and Annabelle is the person given the assignment to work her PR magic and find out what is going on. Little does Annabelle know that Uncle Yank is playing match-maker. Does Yank's shenanigans work? Will Brandon and Annabelle have the courage to find true love?
The interaction between Brandon and Annabelle will draw you in until the end.
I loved the Series when it was first released, am excited to see it being Re-Released with updates, and can't wait to read Hot Number. I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
