Overall Assessment
I have used my Hot Tools Professional Spring Curling Iron (1’’) for a few weeks now and each time I have use it I been even more pleased with it than the last. I chose to purchase this curling iron after doing some research online and finding many articles had rated this curling iron as the best. At $31.80, this curling iron seemed like a steal since it was ranked better than curling irons triple the price.
This curling iron does what it says it will in the product description. It heats up quickly and produces curls that will last all day. There are variable heat settings you can choose from. The directions included with the curling iron recommend three different heat settings depending on whether you have fine, regular, or thick hair. The highest setting is 430 degrees, which is the one I use for my thick hair. It heats to temperature in under five minutes, making it convenient to use during your morning routine.
One drawback of this curling iron is that it does not have an automatic shut off timer, but if you are careful about shutting it off and unplugging it after use, then this shouldn’t be a problem.
Curling your hair is quick and easy with this curling iron. Within minutes, you can change straight, boring hair into beautiful loose curls with volume. The curls are soft and shiny, not frizzy. They will last all day and sometimes into the next if you use hairspray the day before.
For the cost of this product, I feel you get a tremendous value. So far, it seems very durable and like it will last for years. I love my Hot Tools Professional Spring Curling Iron and will recommend it to anyone looking for the curling iron with the best value on the market.

This is a very nice curling iron. It heats up very quickly and I love the extra long cord. If using a high setting take care to use some kind of styling gel or product to protect your hair. I like using A bit of BioSilk on my hair before it's dry and then apply some lightweight styling hairspray. Not only do they protect the hair shaft, the hair seems to curl easier and the curl has more memory and body/bounce.

This is the only curling Iron I've ever used.. the very first one I bought was 8 years ago and lasted me about 4 years.. before the inside hinge broke off.. I bought another and I suppose they had by then been updated with the 360* rotating cord so no it doesn't twist and tangle.. ever since they have easily broken within months..twice the little black thumb grip broke off.. then the rotating cord stopped working (like it somehow disconnects the actual cord from the rest of the wand so there's no power.. this was the last one I bought (bringing me to a total of 4 AFTER my first one) and from day #2 of using it the rotating cord once again was causing the power to go out.. it turns on for the most part.. but as soon as the bottom turns with the movement the light goes out.. and if I'm not watching it consistently to make sure the light is still on.. I end up losing the heat and having to wait.. I have more hair than Mofasa, curlier than a cabbage patch kid and with the very first one I got (without the rotating cord) it would take me about 10 minutes to do my hair, it was amazing.. ever since they changed the model, besides breaking as easily as I just stated, they don't heat the same either.. it takes me longer to get to the highest setting and it takes about 3-5 slides through my hair to set the curl properly instead of just 1 (with the old model).. I don't know if they changed the actual metal piece, but they must have for a cheaper version because like I said, it used to heat in about 40 seconds and flatten my hair with one slide.. not I'm lucky if I'm done with my hair in under 30 minutes..

I have never been good at styling my own hair. I would post a few embarrassing high school photos to prove it, but it's not Thursday. Now that I'm, ahem, into my 30s, I thought it would be a great time to get serious about it. At the request of a hair dresser friend I purchased this curling iron and had a short tutorial on how to use it. I love using this to style my hair for several reasons. First of all, it heats up fairly quickly. The cord can rotate 360 degrees so you don't get tangled when switching hands. There is also a long enough cool grip tip so you don't burn your hand when holding the end of it. Another nice feature is the temperature control, though admittedly I just sort of guess at a setting that I think is good (hot is hot, right?) I can't think of anything I don't like about it other than the fact that it won't just do my hair for me. When will they invent that?

FYI, one of the things my friend taught me was not to take the iron all the way to the end of my hair, but to start curling at the middle. Apparently I was stuck in the 80s with how I used curling irons.
