Daniel Kilcannon, a widower with six unmarried kids, has notonly orchestrated wonderfully happy endings for all his offspring...he's foundone of his own. That leaves his grown nieces and nephews plus his adultstepkids all in need of their own magical romances. Is The Dogfather toopreoccupied with his new lady love to pull the strings and make the matches?Maybe. But never fear, fans, there's a new team in town and these two might bepolar opposites in life but they are lined up in love. One grandmother has the steel spine of a Greekwarrior, the other has the heart of an Irish poet. Together, along with two darling dachshunds, these Dogmotherswon't stop until all nine of theirgrandchildren are hooked, hitched, and happy.
When Agnes Santorini arrives in Bitter Bark, she hassomething to prove. The notoriously nasty Greek grandma seeks to show hergrowing family that she's an all new Yiayia, inside and out. At the same time,Finola Kilcannon, the beloved octogenarian Irish blogger, knows that her roleas the mistress of Waterford Farm is now in the hands of her son's fiancée,and it's time for Gramma Finnie to start the next chapter in her life. It doesn't take long for these ladies torealize that they are stronger, better, and way more powerful together thanapart, so they move into a Victorian that's aging as gracefully as they are, andget to work. It takes a wee bit ofmeddling, a dash of manipulation, and plenty of help from man's best friend, but the Dogmothers soon become as good astheir predecessor, the Dogfather, at orchestrating a happily ever after.
In this new spin-off series, there's laughter, love, heartache, hope, and happy endings in store for the Mahoney, Santorini, and, ofcourse, the Kilcannon clans. With nine full length novels planned, plus aholiday novella every year, readers are in for a treat that will take themthrough 2021! Fans of The Dogfather series will find the same level ofemotional intensity, familiar family connections and characters, and, ofcourse, an unforgettable dog at the very heart of every story. Just like The Dogfather, the covers of TheDogmothers were all photographed at Alaqua Animal Refuge in Florida usingrescue dogs and local heroes, and a portion of the first month's sales of everybook is donated to that amazing organization.

Cassie is the only daughter in her family and daddy's girl. When her father passed away she was devastated but she stayed strong for her mother and her brothers. Now that everyone is settled in jobs and partners it is her turn to have the life she wants. She is a hard working, ambitious young woman. She is also in love with the sexy fireman.. Cassie has always looked out for her family but now she wants to move to the big city and start her life.
When they met a few years ago they knew the attraction was strong but Cassie has always dreamed of moving to the big city, any big city, and getting out of Bitter Bark. However, there is a big problem. She wants to live in the big city and he wants to stay in Bitter Bark. Long distance doesn't work for either of them. If either one gives up their dream, there will come a time when they will resent the other one.
There is even a problem with their dogs. One dog acts like he hates Cassie and the other dog can't stay because he can't work two dogs at one time. This is a great read. I couldn't imagine how the author was going to leave this story with everyone being happy but she does it. You don't have to read the Dogfather series to understand this book but it makes for a better background if you do. This series starts with 3 big families being joined through marriage. Of course dogs play a big part in this story so it is best if you love dogs!! You will also get some lessons in training dogs and clues about their personalities. Of course they all are winners and makes you want to get a dog - even if you have 5 already. I highly recommend this story. I can't wait for the next book. Guaranteed a good read.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/2/19
There were moments throughout the story when my heart was racing due to some interesting situations, and I wondered how the characters would come out of it. My brain started going into overdrive, thinking about the possibilities. This first book in the new Dogmother series is a must read. Happy reading y'all!
Yiayia wants to turn over a new leaf after having a health scare down in Florida. She has returned to the area to be with her family after having a heart attack and thinking that she needs to reform her life. Her family is suspicious and Cassie decides there is one way to bring out the real Yiayia by pretending to go out with Braden Mahoney. Yiayia will show her real colors when she thinks her granddaughter is getting serious with someone not Greek.
Gramma Finnie needs a new purpose with Daniel Kilcannon, aka the Dogfather, found a second chance at love with Cassie’s mom and is no longer looking to find a happily ever for the rest of his family. She sees the best in everyone and is part of the team to find Cassie and Braden’s happily ever after.
Finding a happily ever after along with finding that perfect dog to go to arson training school makes this a wonderful read. I fell in love with Cassie and Braden as well as JellyBean and Jasmine. As with any of Roxanne St. Clair’s books you’ll laugh and tear up.
The unlikely duo of Gramma Finnie and Yiayia is something to behold. Talk about yin and yang! But it works as they each take the best of the other and develope a sisterhood as grandmothers. And these ladies are on a mission!
Love is patient, love is kind.
Also, love is frustrating, crazy, sweet, spicy and hot! Especially when you have one hot firefighter and a spicy Greek in the mix.
Awkard family dynamics combined with instant chemistry make watching Cassie and Braden's awakening mouthwateringly delicious! Sigh... The ups. The downs. The best laid plans. Nothing can stop true love blossoming under the watchful eyes and huge hearts of the Dogmothers.
Roxanne has packed so much into this book that at times your head will spin. Read undisturbed. Read it then read it again. So much to love. So much. I absolutely hated it to end!
5 stars from this reader and if it were possible, I'd give it 10!!
