This is a very high detail reproduction of the Soujourner rover, the Pathfinder base and the landing capsule. The quality and detail is much better than the Hot Wheels Curiosity capsule, with the correct colors, details and moving parts required for fun play. The rover also comes with a deployable reproduction of the Pathfinder base, complete with the deployable panels and a tiny rover in one of its flaps ready for deployment, and a reproduction of the interplanetary capsule, with heat shield and all, which inside contains another copy of the pathfinder lander (complete with undeployed bouncing balloons) with articulated flaps, and inside it has another tiny rover (molded in one of the flaps) to display how it traveled all the way to Mars! So for the space enthusiast this is an excellent kit, with high educational value and also lots of playability. I just whish they could make a reproduction of the curiosity with its landing system on a similar level of detail, I would pay a good sum for that.

This Action Pack does a great service to space enthusiasts and astronomy teachers everywhere. Mattel should step up to the plate and produce models of equal quality for the current Mars Rovers.

So awesome! The little heat shield comes off and a little tiny pyramid comes out (and unfolds!). And then you can unfold the bigger one too, and drive the little rover around. I admit I was playing with this at my desk instead of working the other day...

Made much better than the more recently released Hot Wheels Curiosity Rover. Lots of details. The wheel design features articulated axles. the heat shield comes of the capsule, and the lander folds open. Lots of good play possibilities.

He wanted a mars rover so bad and this delivered. The various pieces enable several different types of play. Be wary that there are very small pieces and some only hold together pretty lightly.

I'm so glad I held on to mine. I actually have 2 sets, both in the box, but I lost one, unfortunately. I also have a pretty nice collection of Nissans, particularly the Skyline. Didn't realize how much money I had hanging up on my walls. A couple of them I wish I had bought duplicates before I opened.

A great replica of the Sojourner mission. The rover is built sturdy and the attention to detail is amazing. A must for a space fans collection

My son loved it! He's a space and especially a planet Mars fan! Pieces are small but that was expected by the picture and other reviewers.
