Product Description

This restaurant quality kitchen tongs set comes with a 9” standard tong for food serving and a 12” large tong for grill or BBQ.

Function

Use these cooking tongs to turn hot food or cold food with ease while keeping your hands away from oil splatter and fire. 12" is great for grilling and 9" is perfect for kitchen task.

Material

These kitchen tongs are made of food level stainless steel, durable and like new forever. The handle is cushioned with silicon to ensure good grip.

Design

The locking mechanism is super user friendly, pull for lock and push for unlock. The spring that keeps the kitchen tongs open is super heavy duty and will open and close many times. A thumb rest allows your thumb to be in the perfect position to help guide the cooking tongs where they need to go. The tongs also come with a hanging loop, simply hang them with the hanging loop after use or put in the drawer when lock closed to save space.

Tongs can be hit or miss since they can flex or not grip well, but that is not the case with these!!
I have used mine to pick up and flip sausages, pick up shrimp, and to mix a salad.
The real test was the 4 pound bone in pork shoulder in my Instant Pot. After searing each side, it picked it whole thing up with ease. Then I used the tongs again (washed!) to puck up the big chunks of the tender pork that needed to be shredded.
Did I make you hungry?!?! ha!

These tongs are better than the similar OXO tongs I owned previously.
These tongs are essentially an improved clone of the - OXO Good Grips 12-Inch Stainless-Steel Locking Tongs.

These tongs are about 1/4 inch shorter than the similar OXO tongs.
These tongs contain a better spring mechanism than the similar OXO tongs.
For the price of the OXO tongs, these provide a second, shorter, pair of tongs.
The OXO tongs I had previously lasted 10 years before the rubber grip and the spring gave out.
The construction of the Hotec tongs looks like it may be able to out last my previous OXO tongs.

Sticky & Slow Opening, Poor Pincer Design

- Comes in a set of two lengths.
- Simple locking mechanism.
- Dishwasher safe.

Cons
- Larger tong was sticky when opening and would stop halfway.
- Pincer design leaves little to grab with.
- Weak opening mechanism led to the tongs opening slowly, especially the bigger tong.

I wanted to switch from manual tongs to locking ones to make storage easier. The weak grasp, poor pincer design, and sticky opening (especially on the larger tong) led me to return them.

My previous set of tongs had a ring that slid up and down them to let the open or keep them closed. The spring tension pushing the tongs open was so high that I could only turn a few pieced of food before feeling strain and cramps in my hand and/or wrist. THESE tongs from Hotec are released from the closed position by pushing in the little circular ended slider in, locked closed by pulling the slider to the "out" position. No strain, just well-balanced, perfect tongs.
