Frequently asked question: difference between blacklight and purple light?
Answer: blacklight is not as visible as blue light or purple light. At this wavelength, which is around 395nm, it is almost the maximum wavelength in blacklight which is visible to human eyes although it still displays deep purple color due to its visibility. However, the fluorescent materials or a number of certain materials beneath this blacklight light will glow strongly in the dark.

This is most powerful LED blacklight I have found on Amazon that emits real UV. Most LED backlights you find online emit more purple light then true UV, but not this one. But it does emit some purple.

I've bought the smaller watt fixtures, and now 2 of the big 50 watt versions, and they are all excellent blacklights.

I'll admit it... I'm a blacklight snob. I've owned/operated a blacklight miniature golf course and a blacklight haunted house. I've tried many, many black lights over the years. The HouLight LED UV is the best of the best. Like all LED UV lights, it does produce a certain amount of visible light, along with the UV light, but the way it makes our UV reactive objects fluoresce ("glow") is simply incredible. Our blacklight mini golf has been closed for two years, but this year (2017) for Halloween we set up part of the course in a large garage. We had previously used around a dozen or so CFL UV lights to light the course. We did a test with ONE 50w HouLight, and it yielded better results! It would only take two to light our entire 9 hole course. I liked the HouLight so much, I purchased two more (another 50w, and a 20w). The 20w version was bright enough to light our entire front yard UV Halloween display. It sat outside on the lawn (24 hours a day) for two weeks, with no problems. We has several days of very heavy rain during those two weeks, and it didn't seem to effect the HouLight in the least. This year I had also converted an old pool table into a UV table, complete with UV billiard balls. We tried playing pool under a 4-foot UV fluorescent tube light. The results were so poor, we considered returning the UV balls. We tried playing again under the 20w UV Houlight, and the difference was astonishing. All the UV-reactive objects on the table "glowed" like crazy! Simply put, these are the best UV lights I have ever used.

My 50 watt black light was delivered to me a day ahead of schedule. This is the best UV light I have used in a long time. [**Side note: I am also an Audio Visual professional and have 20 years of experience with night clubs. **]

I used this light to experiment with erotic blacklight body painting and photography. The experiment was basically to use multiple types of paint on my model ranging from acrylic to latex paints and see what would glow and appear best in photos. The projection on this light was intense enough to almost be blinding (in a good way) when I plugged it in a small room indoors. It has a wide angle and projected a true UV effect to a long distance.

My only reason for not offering this a 5 star rating is that I would like to have a dimmer built in this light, but that is wishful thinking for the moment. As is, the light is great for all of my applications.

We bought the 50Ws and installed these lights for an outdoor event and they turned out to be great! They are wide angle lights so they cover a large area, there was no problem for those lights to cover the entire stage to produce the effect we wanted. Also, these lights look pretty weather safe to me. Unless there is a crack/defect caused by some external damage they can withstand weather for sure. In case you are wondering, IP65 means the light fixture is able to protect itself against water jets (such as rain), but it is not intended for use under water, so never submerge this light fixture under water(common sense)!!! Last but not the least, the seller support is awesome! I came to know this product by an advertisement they ran on their FB page (HouLight). I tried to contact the seller for some general questions about stage lights that were not even entirely related to this product, I was amazed that they really tried hard to help me in their ways and I liked that they were willing to walk an extra mile to address my concerns. Although I myself have not experienced issues with those lights so far I'm sure they will help you wholeheartedly if you happen to run into issues.

These lights worked great! I purchased (4) 50 watt black lights. We used them in a tent and also on the patio facing out toward the yard and they worked very well! They made everything glow, even when it wasn’t fully dark outside! Great purchase! I’m glad we decided to get the 50 watt instead of the lowest watt. The only down side was that they attracted a lot of bugs but that’s usual with any lights outside... would of still purchased even knowing that now.

Absolutely the best blacklight purchase I've ever made!

I made up my garage for a blacklight party last year, with 7 of the fluorescent blacklight bulbs, and 4 of the compact fluorescent bulbs, and it worked good.
This year I bought some of these LED blacklights and it's a night and day difference. Even just the one 50 watt one was brighter than all the tube lights and screw in lights combined. You can't even look directly at it for more than a second.

I also bought a couple of the 20 watt ones for coverage of the garage, but the brightness was leaps and bounds better than the tube lights.

If your looking to brighten up a bedroom, just get one of the 20 watt ones. These things are BRIGHT!
