his book follows the best friends Brooke and Savannah after what I like to call the "Lucas Wellington debacle." Both women are happy in their respective relationships and in fact Brooke and Josh are expecting. Always wanting to raise kids at the same time as his brother, Jake wants the same with Savannah.

But of course Savannah feels strongly about the entire subject. She just isn't ready and while I totally understand where she was coming from I felt very annoyed with how she was going about it. I wouldn't have blamed Jake if he ended up leaving her over it. I thought she was selfish especially for raining on her bff's parade. This should have been a happy time for her but Savannah spoiled most of it for her.

I hated her at that point and wanted to hit her over her head hoping that she would pull it together but once she had that moment in the bathroom my perspective totally changed. I fell in love with her again and fell even more with the way that she supported Brooke through those difficult times.

Which brings me to the highlight of the story. Brooke. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I felt disheartened by her situation. All the issues that she went through were definitely emotionally taxing but for me that aspect of the story was what made this story truly special.

It wasn't just a romance surrounding two wonderful couples' rather it was so much more! It became multi-dimensional. It depicted real life issues that gave you hope. It provided me with even more awareness and of course it stressed just how precious family is.

I thought "Hourglass Squared" was a fantastic follow- up to "Hourglass" Like I mentioned in my previous review however it's Luke's story (which drops in 3 days) that I am really looking forward to.

Hourglass Squared
Besties Savannah and Brooke are back and they are still taking life in full flight. Still working for Hourglass, they are married to twins Josh and Jack and life couldn’t be any better!
I really enjoyed and found myself laughing all the way through Hourglass, so I was caught off guard by the devastating storylines of Hourglass Squared. Caught by such surprise, big ol’ ugly cry fat tears were shed. I’m not for spoilers but there are two pivotal character defining moments in this book.
I’ll start with Savannah. Savannah is selfish, that doesn’t mean she’s heartless, she just likes things to be done on her schedule and there’s hell to pay when it’s not. I wanted to slap her as well as hold her hand and say ‘yep – it’s scary as hell but it will be okay.’ She has a really tender moment that made me change my view of her that I’ve held onto since Hourglass.
Now Brooke. I have always liked Brooke. She’s a tough cookie. She cops the punches (figuratively!) and she’s still standing tall and moving forward. I was sitting on the lounge reading this and my husband asked me if I had a cold because I was sniffling that much. I was barely out of the room when the tears fell. I was heartbroken for her, absolutely gutted.
There is one small part of this story that just ripped my heart apart. I read the first line and actually put my kindle down thinking ‘I can’t cope with this!’ After collecting myself with a little pep talk of ‘they are fictional characters, you know this will be horribly beautiful’, I forged on. Cue the ugly cry again!
Now don’t get me wrong – this is not all doom and gloom in this story along with the laughs. That rat-bastard Luke makes a small reappearance and I couldn’t help but sneer at the screen as he spoke.

Best friends Brooke and Savannah are done with Luke and have married the twins. They are living life and ready for the next chapter at least some of them are.

Brooke and Josh announce they are having a baby. They just bought a house, and couldn't be happier. Jake has always wanted to have his kids close to his brothers, but Savannah is not ready for kids and she makes this very clear to everyone which hurts Jake's feelings.

Brooke is having a bad pregnancy. She is throwing up all the time, and can't keep anything down. She isn't gaining a lot of weight and it's when the Dr. finally gets some blood work back that turns everyone's life upside down.

Meanwhile Savannah is coming to terms with her getting knocked up. She's not happy about it, and she makes sure everyone knows. What makes it worse is that she is having an easy pregnancy.

While Brooke is struggling with her health problems, and trying to make sure she has a healthy baby even if that mean declining treatment to save her life.

This is truly a heartbreaking story, it will having you coming to terms with people having to go through this kind of shattering life stories on a daily basis.
