This is yet another great book in the vigilante series. The characters are so well drawn and the action is detail-oriented -- it almost feels like you're right in the middle of the story. The twists & turns in this storyline are enough to keep your eyes glued to your kindle while reading it. You will find it hard to put down the book (I read it cover-to-cover in about 2.5 hours).
I am enjoying these thrillers written by Claude Bouchard, his writing improves with each book and so do the stories. I have purchased the entire series & I have not regretted it for a single moment.
Next up: "DISCREET ACTIVITIES"
Again, I was pleased with the progress shown by #5. I can't wait to get started on #6.
The one thing that kept me from giving 5 stars, is I felt the dialogue was somewhat stilted sometimes. It felt like I was listening to a commercial, at times the conversation between the good guys wasn't really a conversation, it was more a recap of the events. I like the dialogue to be real, what people would really say in these situations. But this was only sometimes, definitely not always.
Overall a fast paced, well thought out, fun read where the good guys win the day!
This book is so well plotted, with a multitude of mini plots running around at the same time and coming together just perfectly, I don't know how an author can keep it all straight. But Bouchard does. Not to mention, the ending is just fantastic. I thought it was going one way but it went completely another.
In this 5th book we pick up some more characters that join Chris and Jon in their organization. They are the people you want on your side, the good guys who have no rules to hold them back, the ones the others call when they can't get justice. When a bank gets taken over by robbers, hostages are held and things go wrong, Chris and Jon and their crew are the ones to come to the rescue and they take no prisoners. Gotta love a Vigilante book for sure. Another winner, another 5 stars, and I am onto number 6 in the series.
What happens when you have a group of degenerate dirt bags with a full proof plan for a bank job with inside information? Usually nothing good for the bank of the insurance company, however in this case they didn't count on the fact that Vigilante Chris Barry would be there and that he would just happen to be on the board of the bank.
Another great book in an already great series that centers on a vigilante that enjoys making sure that the scourge of society get their just deserts.
This book, this series is a must addition to action/thriller and vigilante fans.
I've had minor complaints with the previous two books about the author not doing female characters particularly well. However, in this book, he's introduced two 'group members', one active, one prospective, that are female and both are vivid. I'm not sure why he had difficulty with Barry's wife, especially in the first book where she had a fairly substantial role, but she's never really become a real person for me. This doesn't happen with the two female characters introduced in this book so perhaps he just doesn't do characters that aren't tough, kick-ass types whether male or female.
I suspect I am addicted, but just keep them coming, please.
