So firstly, we already have a sound machine. It's that little Skip Hop sound machine that most people probably received for a Baby Shower gift, as did we. I'll admit that the shape of the little guy got me. And I continued liking it right up until we started using it. My daughter can't sleep with the music functions, so we were left using the "white noise" sound - I can only describe it as the equivalency of a "white noise" nails-on-a-chalkboard. My wife and daughter can sleep through it, but I hear it no matter where I am in the house. It's awful.Anyway, all that said, I needed to try something that could cover or at least ameliorate the sound that thing makes so I could sleep again. So a little over a week ago I purchased this Housbay Sound Machine as it wasn't too expensive and looked like a good buy; nice features, several options for noises, etc. So when it arrived I was looking for things like build quality, packaging quality, fit and finish, etc. (as I do with all my purchases). I was really pleased with the build quality and feel of the machine, it's kind of "rubberized", I guess is how you'd describe it - it feels nice. It's well built and works with both 110v power or USB power. I plugged'er in and, like most men, didn't even bother cracking the manual, which really hasn't proven to be a necessity as the controls are all pretty intuitive. The sound quality is very good and I really like how you can cycle through a large selection of colors with a sliding scale of brightness levels (rather than 2-3 presets, which is a really nice touch, btw). Do keep in mind, if you select any color other than a red or orange spectrum, even a really dim setting is going to cut through the darkness pretty well. Now on to the most important aspect, the ever important **white noise option**; I love it. It's a really nice, gentle, peaceful tone/sound and really, somehow, overrides that devil-designed Skip-Hop Elephant. As I said, it's been about a week since I've had it and I've actually noticed a significant improvement in my sleep patterns. So, I know most of you are reading this for information on whether you want to buy it for your infant and I would wholeheartedly endorse it for that as well. I really like this little machine and I can't recommend it enough - worst case scenario, if for some reason you don't like it then you can return it and buy the brand name/ear piercing competitor - but I'd light my money on fire before falling for the cute elephant trick again... Hope this helps some of you decide!

If you press and hold the color change button, the light will cycle between all the colors beautifully.
I’ve had other kid night light/white noise machines and this by far blows them outta the water. Ten thumbs up!
