I found this book through an interlibrary loan. It is academic, it cites it sources, and is very detailed in its scholarly approach. It discusses Greek attitudes towards death throughout different time periods, including Homeric and Classic, by examining actual ritual. I'll be citing this in an upcoming paper. Is it easy reading? Definitely not, but it is thorough and deep. If you are interested in Hellenistic reconstruction, attitudes towards death, or the archetypal figure of Hades, this is the book for you! Good luck finding it, though.
