Bottom line: If you like a strong heroine with a potential good guy hero, mixed in with a little romance and a nice mystery, without explicit language and sex, you should take the time to read this book. I'm off to read the next one in this series.
Single-girl reporter- Jenessa has just been laid off her job and is down to her last nickel when she learns her father has died and she must go home to Hidden Valley for the funeral. A place she left in disgrace and alienation from her father due to an unwed preganancy, years ago. Her Aunt is thrilled to have her back and soon lines her up a job with the local paper to keep her in town. Right off the bat she is given the mystery of a dead woman to solve, and working the story brings her into conflict with the powerful local family whose son fathered her baby and broke her heart. Complication soon ensue as her former boyfriend-Logan, announces his intentions to reunite with her and inspite of the attention she's getting from an old friend-Michael, Jenessa finds that the pull of Logan is still strong. More complications! And compounded by the fact that Logan may be a murderer!
A nice, well plotted story that will hold your interest. A star was deducted for predictable, clunky dialogue but this is still a very worthy read, and well worth your time.
At any rate, it was a good read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of mystery and a bit of romance. I do like the way that was handled, that we were not emblazoned with the hot & heavy details of passionate sex. Having a happy ending was something many of us could certainly use from time to time.
