Debra Burroughs grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Most days she can be found sitting in front of her computer, dreaming up interesting and exciting characters and story lines. If you've ever read any of her books, you'll agree that Debra writes with intensity and power. Her characters are rich and the stories are full of compelling suspense and real romance. If you're looking for stories with heart-fluttering real romance and "I can't put this book down" suspense that will entertain you, grab your attention, touch your heart, and leave you wanting more, then dive into one of her captivating books.
There are some typos that are rather jarring in this book. There is also some repetition. These two things may turn off some readers. The positives are that Jenessa finally chooses between Logan and Mike. Also, Logan and Jenessa have been searching for the son they gave up for adoption while they were just teenagers. Do they find the son? Jenessa is getting too close to the murder suspect in this book as someone tries to run her down in the street. However, Logan pushes her out of the way and he gets hurt instead and lands in the hospital. Who wants to protect their secrets so much that they are willing to run down Jenessa? The murder is several years old. Why would it matter now? Who has too much to lose if their involvement in the murder were revealed? What if more than one person was involved in the murder? Who is the actual guilty party? You will have to read the book to find out the answers to all these questions. It is also important to note that this is a clean book. No swearing and no sex so if you are looking for a sexy mystery, this is not for you.
I was waiting excitedly for this third installment in the Jenessa Jones series, and it was certainly no disappointment. All of the wonderful characters from the previous books (with a few new ones sprinkled in), a terrific mystery that kept twisting and turning, and a nice sprinkling of romance. . . all of the things that Debra Burroughs does so well. As for the ending, well, I certainly did NOT see that coming! There's a really nice settling of several ongoing issues. I just hope that there will be more of Jenessa to come!
I enjoyed this third book in the trilogy very much ! So many answers finally. The characters were as likable as ever. They became like your best friends! The murder storyline had many twists and turns! I would certainly recommend this series to others!
Jenessa Jones is a reporter who manages to get herself in more trouble than you can imagine. On top of that, she is caught between two men vying for her heart. Thus one will keep your heart racing. And a twist at the end, makes for added enjoyment. Top notch writing!
Jenessa Jones is a reporter, having previously been laid off by cost cutting measures at her big city newspaper job and now returned home to Hidden Valley to work with her home town newspaper, and has reason to believe her job may be on the chopping block again. She needs a big story and believes solving the twenty year old murder of Nick Evans and writing the scoop for her paper will save her newspaper and her job. But first she has to prove it was a murder as it was ruled an accidental drowning. Her efforts are affected because two men are battling for her affections. Her current boyfriend, Michael Baxter, is a detective and is discouraging her from reopening old wounds in the community. The other, Logan Alexander, is her high school sweetheart and the father of the child they had at age seventeen which was put up for adoption, and whose family owns the newspaper. Great story with twist, after twist, after twist before the climax is determined.
I always love Jenessa Jones and Debra Burroughs cozies. They are inundated with twists and turns and more mazes than the Windsor House in San Jose. One tiny little piece of knowledge about men, and believe me, I know men (and no, get your mind out of the gutter. I'm an engineer). In reference to Logan and the last 5 pages? Men like him don't choke up, and then slump back down on the pillows? Way too dramatic. They look like a deer in headlights when what happened happens and then they actually very quickly adjust with a bit of reassurance.
I enjoyed this book. There were times when I wanted to smack Jenessa because she was so wishy-washy between the two boys, but it turned out the way it was supposed to in the end. The intensity of the story was right on and the romance also.
