"Highly satisfying...a conspiracy-laden spy novel that's at its best when it's gleefully cutting the legs out from the genre's tropes."―Publishers Weekly
"Highly entertaining...Meltzer and Goldberg move "The House of Secrets" at a breakneck pace...what never wavers is Meltzer's meticulous historical research, drawing on little known facts to make the past come alive....An intriguing twist pulls together the tight story of THE HOUSE OF SECRETS."―South Florida Sun Sentinel
"Nobody does historical speculation better than Meltzer, to the point where the lines between fiction and fact become utterly blurred. And that helps make THE HOUSE OF SECRETS great fun, pure reading entertainment of the highest order."―Providence Sunday Journal
"A fast-paced and twisty thriller not to be missed."―Library Journal
"Meltzer's many fans should have a good time here, as will all conspiracy-minded readers, even those not familiar with the author's brand."―Booklist

PRAISE FOR THE CULPER RING SERIES:
"Clearly a history buff of the highest order, Meltzer knows his stuff, and he's included research from chats with none other than President George H.W. Bush....Beecher's got the mental acumen of Robert Langdon and the gumption of Indiana Jones, but unlike those globe-trotting types, Meltzer's protagonist is thrown into adventures made in the USA and acts as an awesome gateway into the deadlier aspects of American history."―USA Today on The Fifth Assassin
"History and suspense collide in shocking ways - and the intensity never lets up. Beecher carries the weight of the story. He's a great character who will resonate with readers since he's like the fun next-door neighbor or your best friend in college....One of his best books to date...The ending of The Fifth Assassin appears to announce that Beecher White will return, and that cannot come fast enough."―Washington Post on The Fifth Assassin
"A fascinating story that blends historical facts, secret codes, with an engrossing mystery...Meltzer is a master at writing his mysteries as puzzles where the pieces are hints dropped throughout the book..."―Military Press on The Fifth Assassin

I can tell you that the story started with Hazel Nash being told a story by her father, Jack Nash, a very famous TV star who travels the world looking for strange things to talk about on his show! The name of his show is House of secrets! Known through out the world.
The story he tells her is about Benedict Arnold and George Washington and the trouble they had together. He explains about Arnold betraying Washington! A man is found dead and when the body is cut open to find out how he died, the doctors find a bible in his chest! The bible turns out to be Benedict Arnold's bible. At the time Hazel is only six years old. But she is interested in the story because it is a strange series of events.
Through out her life she thinks that her father's travels are all concerning the story she heard when she was 6!
She stays in contact with her brother, Skip Nash and Jack even after her Mother dies.
Jack contacts both Hazel and Skip and wants them to go on a trip together for old times. As they are driving across the Desert, Jack has a heart attack and they have an accident that kills him and injures Hazel!
That is when Hazel loses her long term memories. Skip is fine he was in the back seat.
As she is in the hospital she tries to remember their past lives, but has to relive a lot of stuff that Skip has to help her with.
They get into too much trouble trying to find out about Jack and get the FBI involved in the story.
That is when they find out that two other people are found dead and one has a Benedict Arnold bible buried in his chest! The same as the story Hazel was told when she was 6!
The book must be read to understand The House of Secrets!
You will not be able to put it down!
As the years roll on, Skip and his sister, Hazel, lose their father in a deadly car accident. They begin to suspect foul play. A mystery involving Benedict Arnold and his Bible comes into play. Hazel, who was in the car with her father, cannot remember anything due to a mild form of amnesia. Clue by clue she unlocks her old memories as well as her dad's secret past.
My Review: Meltzer has a page-turning style that sucked me in right away. I really liked the history about Benedict Arnold. I also liked his tongue and cheek style about the main character's TV show. The irony is not lost.
For the most part, the story meshed. There were a few moments that confused me, but then I tend to read at night and then fall asleep. I recommend this book to all history and mystery lovers. I will definitely be buying another Meltzer book. 4/5 Stars
Enjoy THE HOUSE OF SECRETS and don't forget about all of Brad Meltzer's other fine work.
