House shichimi togarashi (7 flavored pepper spice) is a very popular brand of seasoning and this distinct little red glass jar is often found on countertops in ramen shops and izakayas across Japan and the US. It is an excellent spice to sprinkle on top of ramen, fish, grilled chicken skewers, okonomiyaki, and any other food you'd like to add a little fire to.

Shichimi doesn't just bring heat. It adds texture, flavor, and a small amount of added nutrients from the seeds in the mixture. Shichimi in Japan usually contains hemp seed as one of the 7 ingredients, which gives the spice a good crunch. For export to the US, this ingredient has been replaced. Aside from that, this is a true taste of a Japanese favorite.

Be sure to put the cap back on tightly after use so that no moisture gets into the bottle. When that happens, the powdered ingredients will start to stick together and become difficult to shake out of the hole.

This is a great spice if you like your food tasty and on the hottie side. It works well with everything from fish to chicken. I like to use it to season my flour for frying or sauting chicken, fish and veggies, like summer squash. I had been searching for this for some time an friend introduced me a few years ago. Happy to have found it again.

I am pleased with this spice as it gives me new flavors to use. So far I used it as a dry rub for chicken.

Yes, this pepper condiment won't leave you crawling to bed from the bathroom. It's about adding a range of flavors to contrast whatever it is you're cooking, not committing seppuku by hot pepper. If you're idea of a good pepper sauce is one that leaves you vomiting flames from both ends, by all means please avoid Shichimi Togarashi. If you want an authentic flavor enhancer from Japan that compliments a meal, this should be on your table next to the soy sauce and that creepy Kewpie Brand Mayo.

It's a very good brand of shichimi, but it does contain hemp seed (which is legal), contrary to what the description says. You can see this on the labeling, which lists ''' _asa no mi_ ("hemp seed") as being among the ingredients.

This is the best 7 spice for making spicy tuna for sandwiches or spicy tuna rolls. You need Shichimi Togarashi, sushi grade raw tuna, mayo, chili oil, and green onion. I could eat this everyday. i have tried other 7 spice and this is by far the best tasting.

living in Japan everyone put this on rice! When I left I missed it so much that i bought two on here at 8 dollars a piece. with this being the only place to get it i would say 5 stars. I just found they sell it here in town for just 1.50 a piece. I will no longer buy it here but i will always buy the product. If i was the seller i would at least do free shipping.

First off, I was a little put off by the tiny size of the bottle, even though it said .59 oz I apparently couldn't imagine it in my mind's eye. However, its not tiny in taste! I used it on my egg whites in the morning to make it more palatable and they came out delicious; on fish its amazing. Will purchase again but will look for a bigger size.
