About the Author

Brett Hoffstadt is an aerospace engineer (aka rocket scientist), project manager, inventor, music composer, and innovation catalyst. When he thought about what career he wanted to pursue, he thought about the hobbies that he loved most: radio controlled-airplanes and playing piano. Being practical, airplanes won. He went on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University, with considerable industry experience in the meantime. Many years later, Brett (finally) figured out how to combine his creative energies (previously applied to music) with his analytical and engineering skills. While overseeing development, production, and multidisciplinary engineering efforts on the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor, he activated a new culture and capability of innovation within his large aerospace employer with such additions as 3-D printing, dedicated innovation spaces for employees, and an internal crowd funding platform. In addition to managing and leading projects of the innovative, complex, and aerospace varieties, Brett delivers presentations and workshops on aerospace/STEM topics and creating innovation within organizations. His website and blog are the sources for further discussions and insights into aerospace career trends, tips, and resources: www.howtobearocketscientist.com
