Kitty Killmore’s favorite things are naps, fresh shrimp and ordering her humans around. Her favorite toy is the bobbin from the sewing machine. She also loves window scratchies and watching the lesser beings from the top of her armoire. She loves her cat uncle, Kuku, very much and tolerates her younger brother, Dude. She has her household well trained to respect her personal space and private places. She lives in Hawaii and particularly enjoys being outside on the lanai during twilight.

Awesome facts and trivia

As a ragdoll breeder, I found so many interesting bits of trivia I never knew- from a cat who lived 38 years to the pet cats of the Presidents to whacky pet laws in different countries- if you love to know more historical background on cats. This is the book for you.

I’m a dog person, but…

A friend recommended this book to me and though I’m mostly a dog person, I really liked it! The writing keeps the disdainful tone of a cat, but also shows glimpses of warm and fuzzy by instructing us on how to stay on the cat’s good side! It’s a humorous tome with real life insights and advice… send it to all your catloving friends (and dog people, too)!

This is an excellent book for anyone wanting to understand cats and learn how to handle them better. The author refers to scientific research, which creates credibility, and the information conveyed is of high quality. The start of the book covers the history of cats, which I found fascinating. For example, the first domesticated existence of cats has been traced back to Middle Eastern areas like Mesopotamia, Turkey, and Cyprys. In Egypt, cats were also mummified, as old beliefs said that Egyptian gods could inhabit the bodies of animals. The book also contains great information regarding how to understand and handle cats. For example, cats don't like confinement or being forced to make contact, they are independent and need their space, and they dislike loud noises and overwhelming scents. Also, what you see is what you get in terms of cats; the body posture indicates how they feel. This can be observed in the tail, ears, fur, eyes, and pose. Also, scratching of furniture relates to marking its territory. The author also discussed research on cats' personalities, which I found very interesting and enlightening; they are unpredictable and a bit like African lions - social, playful, and excitable. Another great tip was to make sure your house plans are not toxic, as many house plants can be toxic to cats - highly recommended if you want to learn more about cats and understand their behaviors.
