A major difference that still exists between Christian's who have embraced the teaching of 'The Reformers' and The Church Of Rome,is what that believe as far as the part that faith plays in a persons justification. The Roman Church believes that faith is the initial part of a process whereby a person receives an infused righteousness, whereas 'The Reformers' and 'Their Heirs' believe-"...that faith is not only the initial step, foundation,or root of justification;it is all you need for justification...".Calvin also taught that justification is begun and completed by faith.
Abraham is set before us,in God's Inspired Book,as a great example of one who had faith in God.The faith of Abraham could be seen in his obedience to God(Hebrews 11:7a 'By faith Abraham, when he was tried offered up Issac...').Was Abraham then saved by his works? No! He was saved through faith.Sproul asserts that by faith Abraham was seen as righteous by God-"God counted Abraham as righteous the moment he believed the promise of God... before he obeyed anything that God commanded."
R.C.Sproul asks the question 'What is the fruit of being justified by God?'The fruit of justification is peace with God.Why is it so important,so indispensable to have peace with God? Because-"...your most hostile enemy, the most threatening alien to your well being is Almighty God." Do you think of God as your enemy? If you do not have faith in God's son,if you are not 'In Christ',if you are not living for God,then God is in fact your greatest and most powerful adversary.
