NOT useful for the beginner
Book put into bubble envelope without a separate cover around it, also included in bubble envelope were other items purchased which came enclosed in small boxes. Flimsy envelope and hard cornered boxes caused book spine and cover damage.Quite disappointed in shipping packaging, and in the book itself.Quality of the book cover is okay, but the quality of the book's inner pages is extremely cheap. This causes the book to be difficult to read. The sketch outlines in the beginning of the book, for placement of facial features, are EXTREMELY light, so one can't hardly see the lines, then with the cheap paper used in the book, well... just not a good book for beginners.Pages have "bleed-through" so what is on the next or previous page can be seen through the page(s) you're looking at. This interferes with the instructions on the pages. The book's first 10-20 pages are more about what drawing tools to use. Instructions shown are for a perfect female face only. It doesn't give instructions for male or children's faces. Drawings are very symmetrical. Faces in real life are typically NOT symmetrical. More often than not there are asymmetries due to various physical characteristics such as a result of acne or pock scars, posttraumatic surgeries, in utero developmental malformations, a stroke, etc.In the back several pages she makes the suggestion to draw a male face, with facial hair and different lighting but doesn't really give instructions.
