No, really, what you end up with looks like a piece of cake... not a flower. It skips some major technique items like perspective and scaling.
This is like a reminder book for someone who already knows what they're doing. I have another book like this and it took me all night until I drew a decent lotus that didn't look like a frightened hedgehog on a dinner plate, floating in a serene pond. This may be a type of book that requires a thorough look in order to absorb what it says it will teach you and what you actually need to learn to draw the item.
My drawing is too bad to post a picture of because it might frighten children and small pets.
The pictures you copy are rendered in various steps so that you can keep the details sorted out. I do think that some of them are very challenging. The final stage, which is the shading and/or coloring, for me, is what takes the longest and the most patience. Yes, there's a lot to consider, esp. in the how to's of the details, but it is possible to walk away with a really lovely and sophisticated drawing even with a minimal amount of shading. If you're not intimidated by the final steps, and understand that this booklet is not really intended to be a complete drawing course, I believe there's a tremendous benefit to be had. For me, they're a lot of fun.
