I was totally thrilled to find a book that could explain to me not only which numbers were important, but how to go beyond that basic knowledge into more specialized systems knowledge to help me grow and expand my business while keeping financial stability in mind.
Her avatar creation system is just plain smart, and worth the meager investment in this book alone. Pick this book up today, read it this week, and marvel at the fact that it will have paid for itself after the first chapter.
So many of the artists, crafters, writers & performers I talk with are intimidated by the profit side of our business - we don't understand numbers, and are afraid of what they might tell us, so we shut our eyes tightly and ignore them, hoping that we'll just magically turn a profit by accident and sheer force of will. Nicole is out to change that for us, to get us to stop squinting suspiciously at numbers, overcome our anxiety and discover new ways to think about profit, pricing, and business spending habits. With "Finance Rock Star" she's provided tools that do just that, sharing some of her "Number Whispering" secrets.
Full of quirky illustrations, amusing anecdotes and down to earth examples of rock-star profits, the book's tone put me at ease and had me laughing at topics that usually tense me up. I'll be working through a lot of the examples, formulas and ideas over the next few months as I set up a new biz project, and wish I'd had them for previous projects.
I'm proud to call Nicole one of my creative co-horts, and thrilled to have this book as a resource for the small biz folks I work with.
