And about those secret tips-- they basically boil down to "tweet and retweet hundreds and hundreds of times a day." Does Bob/Bobbi/M.LeMont have over 100k followers on Twitter? Yes. But, had I taken another minute to look at his/her activity, I would have seen that despite rabidly tweeting every minute or two, all day long, every day, there is almost NO activity on his/her posts. Nobody cares. In the most recent 75 posts or so that I went through, the absolute highest engagement was 7 people who liked one particular post (a share of some motivational picture). Probably 90% of the tweets had zero likes, comments or retweets.
The only other activity on there, and there is a lot of it, is him/her insulting people who won't buy his/her book, and being insulted by people pointing out how creepy he/she is and how his/her spelling is at about an 8th grade level. (The spelling and grammar in the book do appear as if it was written by a jr.Read more ›
The author of the book grew his Twitter account to 100,000 followers in about a year and the book is about the methods he used to do it. Along the way, the author explains a lot about the culture of Twitter users and how Twitter users interact with one another. Even if you aren't interested in gaining followers fast, you'll learn a lot about how people use Twitter.
The book explains how to find people to follow and methods to increase the likelihood that they will follow you back. It explains the limits Twitter imposes on how many people you can follow, and so on. It explains how to tweet and retweet effectively so that more people will follow you. It tells you what software the author uses to follow people, unfollow them, and find new followers.
The main thing that probably no one will emphasize is that the methods explained in this book are a lot of work. But if you are interested in growing your Twitter following, this is a fabulous book to buy.
For me however the work and time involved is too much for my purposes, so I probably won't follow everything the author teaches. But, I will try to incorporate some of his ideas and improve my following.
As has been detailed in other reviews, this process is a lot of work. It is manageable if you get into a routine. Personally, I haven't grown as fast as I would have liked, but I am trying to grow the network with people who may identify with the mission of my company, vs networking with people who are just interested in growing their networks and providing me nothing in return. In other words, it doesn't do me much good to network with people who reside in other countries and don't speak English, other than to allow my network to be larger for the sake of being larger. Frankly, blindly following people leads to Twitter users who deal in porn. I can't afford to have clients see that my company follows porn. Bad press for sure.
I have read this book three times and am about to read it a fourth time. While my intention was just to learn how to grow a Twitter network and not much else, I have spun this knowledge into a small business, as I am growing the network for several clients. The $10 was well spent on my part.
