An outstanding warning book, not about bad drugs which Chon want to be banned, but about good drugs which by doctors are being misused. In the book we learn that we have to think it over instead of just blindly getting a new drug, as for example believing that all antibiotics are alike and harmless, and then maybe getting a drug more potent than necessary, and thereby increasing the chance of harmful side problems. But in addition ask for the weakest drug and also read the package insert, the writing from FDA, and if problems actually start then searching on the Internet.
In the book we realize that many doctors actually newer read the information from the producers or FDA, concerning most of the drugs which they provide to the patients, and even worse, that many doctors even won’t listen to, or trust, their patients, when they try to tell about problems from after starting on drugs, and thereby thinking that there is a connection. And this even when their problems actually begun the same day they started on the drug.
Especially it’s frustrating to read about how many doctors even turn patients away when they actually bring writings from the medical firm, FDA, or the Internet, for thereby showing what they there have found concerning the drug and their actual problems. But many times the same has happened to me here in Chiang Mai, as late as in this week, when I want to show them, in science books/doctor books, that what they earlier have done concerning I or my wife, or now talking about doing, actually are wrong. I owe more than 300 read doctor books. But to me it just recalls we way back in the 1960s then was reading about the hospital doctors, that when a patient laying on the bed, started to talk to the doctor, then the doctor turned around, looked at him, turned back again, and then left the room.
Cohen likes that the patients by themselves go searching about the drugs, especially where we now are having the big Internet library. And concerning this, as a good quality of work, he tells about the woman Donna E. who in 2013 send him a large packet of information, the result from since she started her own research after that she in 2012 was put on Cipro, and then already from the second day getting pain and feeling like if her joints were falling apart. And on 3 sides, we see when then other side problems follow and her in vain visiting different doctors with her problem, until she then the 3/11/2013 meets the first doctor who talked about the Cipro problems, and told that there was a connection between Cipro and her nerve problems.
We have grown into looking at the antibiotics for being harmless, and take them when for example having a flu, but the Cipro, Levaquin, and the other 4 in the book mentioned, are more potent oral antibiotics than other antibiotics. Actually these 6 drugs are fluoroquinolone antibiotics, FQs, which works by going inside the bacteria’s and then change their DNAs, whereby the bacteria’s then die. But as we learn about it in one of the awful cases, it then actually was discovered that the FQs accidentally also can go in and position on human DNAs and make chances. And when this happens then the situation can never again turn back, that is the side problems will newer disappear.
In the book we again read that the actual side problems in which these FQs can result are: central nervous system, heartbeat (even up to 160 pr. minute), psychiatric, visual hallucinations, severe joint pain, skin, swelling redness, tendon rupture, (muscle being ripped from the bone), weakening muscles, visual problems. And Mayo Clinic has stated that the FQ symptoms can start from after 2 hours until first after 6 months, and in the book there is a case with a woman who died, when out with her husband, 2 hours after by the doctor having got the first Cipro. Actually she was suffering from the, myasthenia gravis, which weakening muscles, and the doctor gave her the Cipro even though written on its packet that among other not to be used in connecting with this sickness. So the medication furthermore weakened the respiratory muscles, and she died by missing oxygen before paramedics could arrive. Her husband sued the doctor, but in wain.
Actually we read how first more than 10 years after the Cipro had got out on the marked it then was discovered that probably the side problems in which these FQs can result newer happens for person who in their bodies are having the correct amount of the mineral magnesium. After this he then the following 28 days, continued on 1,000 mg Levaquin, and then Cipro for 7 days, which being much too long time for the FQs, we again and again read through the book. Again and again back to the hospital, and there also given prednisone, which is not allowed in being mixed with the FQs, because of muscle and tendon pain. 7 months later both Achilles tendon ruptured while he was watching television. Later again hospitalized while doctors tried in finding a reason to his pain, weakness, and other problems, and where the doctors ending in believing that the problems not were caused by the FQs, but instead probably being psychosomatic. Then in February 2012, when he again turned gray, the hospital then sends him home to die, but as he could not fall in sleep he saw TV, and by an accident happened in seeing an attorney asking people having the same problems as his, to contact him. First then he heard about problems in connection to the FQs, and immediately contacted the attorney, and then anything turned around including top professional persons getting into making research on JKs blood, and so on, and thereby among other found that his DNA had been affected by Levaquin and Cipro, and would be so for the rest of his life. When then several weeks, after the report, he collapsed and ended in the ER, the doctors told him, “Why are you back? We told you there is nothing wrong with you.” Then he threw the report in front of them, and said that he had been poisoned, and if they would not immediately would start on what to do to dix him then he would go to his attorney. Everything then turned around in the hospital, after discovering that they did not know anything about the drugs, and that they actually other patients parallel to JK.
In around the last half of the book we read about deceases in a wider aspect as for example chronic fatigue, pain, sleeping problem, and so on, and concerning what to do, especially concerning the need in some vitamins, minerals, and half minerals. But concerning, in the connection to the FQs, we see that there parallel to function of magnesium there has been discovered a natural N-Acetylcysteine which also can prevent against the FOs side problem, but among other in a better way as it can be taken at the same time as the FQs, opposite to the magnesium which has to be 4 hours away from the FQs
It’s a warning book which first of all is important, and helpful, to be read by persons who have been taking these FQs, or are going to start on them; but concerning the doctors, everyone ought to be forced into reading the book.
