I was browsing the business books at Kindle and noted the intriguing title of this one. Decided to give it a try as I do know what it's like to be buying a house, when money is tight.

The author has done a good job of explaining his own experiences of buying a home when his family was in a financial crisis.

The information is given in a step by step easy to understand way. But the programs he used to help with a down payment etc, are strictly for US residents only. There is nothing here about assistance of this type in other countries.

As far as I know, here in Canada, the gov't has no similar aid programs to help people in financial distress who still would like to purchase a home instead of renting.

If you live in the US though and are in a bad way financially, but still dream of owning your own home, give this one a try.

This book is a good overview of the Down Payment Assistance program. If, like me, you would like to buy a home but have no money saved and don't know where to start, this is a great place to start. It's a quick read - only 77 pages WITH all the state-specific information - and took me only half an hour to get through. (If your spouse is reluctant to get on board, and doesn't want to spend weeks reading a home-buying book, hand him/her this one!)
I'm withholding a five-star rating only because the language was a little coarse, and the grammar and punctuation left a lot to be desired. The information itself, however, seems solid and well-researched. I'd say it's well worth the 99 cent price tag, especially for a raw beginner like myself. Four stars.

... Quick and easy short read. Unfortunately, this book didn't tell me anything that I couldn't already find for free by a little Internet research.

This book gives a detailed, short and sweet explanation about the programs that are available to allow you to purchase a home without paying the exorbitant price that the infomercial "real estate kings" offer for their program, which is basically the same information that the author covers in this e-book. It's also not one of those "free money" books that tell you about obscure government programs for which only 0.000001% of the population qualifies. Mr. Shelton discusses programs for which at least 90% of the population qualify. If you're looking for ways to purchase a home, don't spend your money on the slick infomercial products - buy this book.

It wasn't too bad has the links for each state. Kinda short would have liked a little bit more information on how ita not credit score driven since the sites say "you have to have decent credit or at least a 620 score.

It did provide good information. It was a bit repetitive however, it provided a link for me to get started so it was worth it.

This is an amazing revelation of typic situation that many people are facing nowadays when buying their first home. The book is well written and clearly understandable. The only issue is that the book let you in a Carrefour you don't know where to stand or lean on. The author needs to lead the reader to the end of buying a house with details and steps. That's what is missing in this book. I would recommend this book for those who have hard time with their credit scores to read but look for more books out there to complete their knowledge in how to buy a house as first time owner. Thanks....

This covers only people who have bankruptcy and no cash flow and who are looking to buy a first home. If you are looking for a means of a loan for a second home or an investment, this is not the book for you. I could have saved my time and money for something that actually worked for me instead of getting this book. On the other hand, if you have no assets and need first time homebuyer downpayment assistance, this book will be very helpful to you and is written in plain English. It would have been nice if the author or Amazon had disclosed this is the description of the book. Tsk tsk and shame on you! That's why I gave it only two stars.
