On the good side, we have Grace Eden who is like no other. Trained by her grandmother who is the all powerful Baba Yaga (who sleeps with Hades and has a penchant for shoe shopping in the Pyramid Collection Catalog, )she is a plus sized force to be reckoned with. Especially when paired with the beautiful, overly dramatic and highly coiffed demon Caspian who is a High Crown Prince in waiting. Throw in Jill a demon prostitute, Petru a huge but slow witted bodyguard and his neighbor/prostitute/love Katrina and our rag tag team is ready to fight evil.
On the side of evil we have Michael who is Grace's russian mobster demon wannabe. Michael's crazy ass mother Nadja who believes she should be the Baba Yaga and will use the powers for pure darkness. The Tea drinking and polite demon Ethelred who owns Michael's soul in ten days rounds off our main cast.
Grace summons Caspian to seek revenge on Michael. As payment Caspian wants sex, which he agrees to while talking directly to Grace's "sweater cows". This leads to some hotter than hot sex which will ruin all trips to the Avenue from now on! Sex turns to even more eventually giving Caspian a heart.
Throughout the book we see the fight of good vs evil and the levels of each we all hold within ourselves.
This is a fast paced, truly entertaining book. There are surprises and twists and a truly happy ending for those who deserved it. I especially love the prologue giving us a glimpse into our characters lives once the dust settles.
Saranna is a great writer. She is extremely well versed in the various Gods and Goddesses and uses them as effective characters. Her characters are never perfect. Nor are they entirely good or evil. And who knew demons could be allergic to peanut butter? what a scene!! She writes books well worth spending time with. I was sorry to say goodbye to Grace and Caspian.
I look forward to more Books by Saranna!!
The situations in this novel had me laughing until my sides hurt. Definitely a must read!
The first part of the book was more on the ok side for me - mostly because it was just major smexy times, which no longer are really enough to make me happy - I need characters that connect and a good story too. But I liked the last half of the book when the story got some depth and I finally started liking the characters, so that ended up redeeming the book for me.
Well, I liked the last half of the book all the way up to the epilog which was the author just ticking off a list of what happened to everyone she'd left hanging. And so the epilog irked me a bit. I'd have rather had the epilog been a glimpse at the HEA for the the leading pair, with just a few of tjhe 'whoever elses' worked in with a little more finesse. Still the price was right, since I got it as a Kindle cheapie, if I'd paid the trade pb price, I don't know if I'd have been quite as forgiving.
