Corson-Knowles explains how to get followers:
- Put a Twitter widget on your website.
- Ask your customers to follow you.
- Ask your friends to follow you.
- Tweet 20 times a day.
Now we get to Corson-Knowles' real advice: use TweetAdder to automate your tweeting. Apparently you can write a few tweets, and then you set TweetAdder to repeat these tweets 10 or 20 times a day. An adder is a venomous snake, right?
There's a page about getting paid to tweet. If you have 25,000 followers then advertisers will pay you to tweet. Excuse me, will the above steps get you 25,000 followers?
Another "chapter" suggests blogging: "When you start posting your blog posts on Twitter you will start to see LOTS of people retweeting your posts, commenting about them and asking you questions about your field of expertise. This is HUGE when it comes to creating visibility, traffic and relationships with potential customers."
Uh, I have a blog, I tweet when I write a new post, and no one retweets my tweets or asks me questions.
Corson-Knowles also suggests having a Facebook page, a podcast, and posting videos on YouTube.
Then he says that you should open multiple Twitter accounts.
His next advice is to search Twitter for people asking questions you can answer. He almost didn't include that advice in his book because the technique is so powerful that it'll "DRAMATICALLY increase your sales - not next month or next week but TODAY! Right now!"
Corson-Knowles doesn't say what type of business can benefit from his advice. Businesses selling fake Viagra?
I signed up for a twitter account over a year ago but have never used it. With the information from this book, I see where I can take that account and start making money from it.
Another thing I liked about this book was that the resources were legitimate, meaning I have seen other people in the online monetizing business also mention the same resources (e.g. WordPress, etc). That adds credibility, especially for someone like me who had no idea about the potential of using Twitter to make money as opposed to your own personal websites and blogs. As a teacher and mother who has succeeded in getting her 12-year-old son to graduate from high school and into college Home School Secrets: Excellent Exposure (The Creation of Intellect), I know the value of legitimate resources.
Thanks for the compact nature of this book that I can always refer to since I have it on my free iPhone app Kindle.
Oh, and this deserves being said: This is the PERFECT type of book to have on Kindle (iPhone) because you can always QUICKLY refer back to it for a particular website.
If you've been using Twitter for your business already, you're not likely to gain much insight from the book but if you're a Twitter novice, there's plenty of valuable information here.
Tweetdeck offers a free solution to tweet and schedule tweets to multiple twitter accounts, so I don't know why someone would suggest that people pay a fortune for a program which does tasks you can do entirely free. There are certain unrealistic claims made, particularly about how fast you can get a twitter account growing. For most people this is a slow and organic process, which only happens fast for real if you get special media attention or promotion. In any case, this writing was not so worth it to me but to a novice could be a good buy.
This eBook could use an update. There are plenty of exclamation points attached to sentences without meat. Tone down the enthusiasm and enrich the content. That I recall, there was not one word spoken about hashtags. Hashtags have accelerated the growth of my twitter profiles because people can search and find you whether they follow you or not. Nobody should write a book about twitter and fail to mention hashtags.
I otherwise applaud this author for showing great personal initiative and also helping others along. I would just suggest that the quality of the product improve to the point where it can be called excellent or it shouldn't be published.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy. I once had to write a long 10 page paper about Aristotle. We were warned that one single misspelling or punctuation error would mean one drop in letter grade. I got an A, and if I am to publish a book, that's how high my standard is for quality. Make it perfect for publishing or don't bother. I won't give 5 stars ever if it is not perfect.
This still may be a very good introduction to twitter for some users. Good luck.
