I stumbled upon Izo Fitzroy whilst looking for and listening to music on YouTube. I'd clicked on a YouTube presentation from Izo Fitzroy, namely “Izo Fitzroy – Phoenix (The Blues Kitchen sessions)” and was, minutes later looking to see what she might have released. “How The Mighty Fall” seeming to be her latest CD, I ordered it as soon as I came across it.
Eleven original songs by Izo Fitzroy (with four of those tracks co-written) The CD is beautifully presented, in a tri-fold holder that has information for each song with regard to the musicians and singers who perform on each track. No lyrics are given but Izo Fitzroy's voice is not only amazing, her diction is crystal clear and you can hear and understand every word she sings.
Bluesy and Soulful with hints of Gospel thrown in, her songs on this album have put me in mind at times of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, and even Earth Wind and Fire, but the sound is very much her own and is fantastic.
