I got lost in trying to decipher the SEO methods and mechanics, but that's not the author's fault. I have struggled with this aspect for years. I wrote for a number of articles at suite101 with less than stellar results, except when writing on 'newsy' topics. I think I did better when writing as a journalist because of my experience some 20 years previously in Oregon. I suppose I am not the first journalist to be confounded by SEO.
Penny Sansevieri did provide some tips on Amazon searches, though, that were different from others. Further, in explaining how to, shall I say, cross-categorize your book, I think I may now be more literate in using a search engine.
Sansevieri also provides hit links to a number of sites that will save gobs of time and ease the path in finding sites to list books for free which, as she and many other experts proclaim, is essential in obtaining marketing success.
The above tips/discussions were sufficient, for me, to be pleased with my purchase. I noticed at that point that I was starting on the second book. At first, I thought it was a teaser. Then, I realized it was a complete second book, How to Get Reviews by the Truckload on Amazon. Thus book was even more useful to me than How to Sell Books by the Truckload on Amazon.com.

On selling your books: ` What I am going to show you will relate to algorithms within Amazon. Everything I will recommend to you in this book is free and will cost you only in research and tracking time. Some things I show you in this book will have immediate results; others will take a bit of time. Once you do these strategies however, it's a bit of "set it and forget it," meaning that once the algorithm kicks in, Amazon does the rest. The term "Amazon's algorithms" is how Amazon ranks titles. It's different from Google's algorithm or any other algorithm in that it shows you only the book searches that are ranking well on Amazon. As I showed you in the previous chapter, online search can determine whether a title would be in demand, but searching on Amazon itself will show you the demands within their system. If you haven't done the exercises in the keyword chapter, I recommend that you return to it now and do that work so you can follow along with this.Read more ›
The barriers to entry have been almost eliminated for anyone wishing to write a book. But lower barriers to entry only mean that the barriers to success have been raised. Thanks to Print On Demand, Kindle Publishing and other such resources, more and more authors are now able to get their books written and published. The number of books available is constantly increasing. So it is harder and harder for a new author to stand out from the crowd, to get noticed and build a following. It is highly unlikely to happen by chance or even word of mouth. You need a serious marketing effort to get your book into the hands of readers.
Penny Sansevieri, a book marketing expert, has written a how-to manual that will help you get noticed and get sales. The book is actually two books in one. The first book is "Get More Sales on Amazon.com" and the second book is "Get More Reviews on Amazon.com". The books are combined as one under the umbrella title of How To Sell Books by the Truckload on Amazon.com. As Ms. Sansevieri correctly points out, all books need an adequate number of reviews to gain credibility and sales.
Ms. Sansevieri is founder and CEO of Author Marketing Experts, Inc. It is her business to help authors get the publicity and sales they need to fulfill the mission of their books. She is also the author of over a dozen other books where she has developed her skills at increasing sales and reviews on Amazon.com. She writes from a position of direct experience.
Penny writes in a very conversational style.Read more ›
