About as much guidance as one can get without a good voice teacher. Detailed, exacting and encouraging. For anyone who really wants to sing to the best of his potential. I recognized many of the same concepts taught by my previous, excellent teacher who is no longer geographically convenient. Well organized and interesting as well as informative and thorough. It's a well researched compilation of information from the greatest singers.
I am a singer and I am usually very curious about books treating the voice training and similar things. THIS book is something different. It's not only a user manual, it's something more. Robin Hendrix, singer herself, did such a research to discover the impossible and invisible way to sing like the great singers. The fruit of her research is this book. The many examples she reports, the vocal exercises, the testament of the great singers of the past themselves, with their own methods, like Caruso's or more ancient manuals of belcanto, etcetera, are so unique, so precious, so important that every singing pupil should know it. Of course there are also some suggestions of audios chosen by Hendrix and it's useful to complete what she means. It might be better, according to me, if the reader, the pupil is studying in a superior academic course because it would be easier to understand the content deeply and carry through with it. Because, at last, to sing like the great singers of the past, as written in this book, few things are really essential: freedom and consciousness. Strongly suggested.
