This is why addiction busting is often so difficult and frustrating - when you fail to do the work with your head and fixate on the physical level of quitting, you are just creating conflict in yourself. Kevin O'Hara shows a simple and practical path that avoids this trap. Once you start being completely honest with yourself, stop making excuses and recognise all the lies about alcohol most people believe in, the process of recovery becomes relatively simple and effortless. It will be a little uncomfortable at times but the discomfort is nothing compared to the pain created by alcohol.
Kevin also avoids the trap of over-analysing addiction. Becoming alcohol-free is not about finding some kind of ultimate truth about why and how people become addicted. In fact, many addicts (including myself) use this pseudo-scientific academic perspective as a tool for denial. By making addiction into an abstract and complex matter, we avoid the raw emotional pain of facing our personal problems directly.
I have read many books about addiction, some of them really good, but Kevin's book is simply the best. It has the potential to induce a fundamental shift of paradigm. Once your perception changes, you no longer have to try to quit drinking, because you simply don't want to drink anymore. Cravings turn to feelings of disgust, confusion turns to clarity, and alcohol misery turns to alcohol mastery.
If you are sick and tired of your hangovers, sick and tired of using your time and focus before, during and after drinking and if want to get your energy back this is the best place to start.
