I am 16 years old and my parents bought me this book hoping it would be of use to me. "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" is a book I would recommend to anyone, not just people who tend to worry a lot. I mostly have all good things to say with the exception of one. After completing the first half of the book, the second half sounds similar to the first. I got everything out of it that I wanted to and felt as if the rest was just extra things that did not mean much to me. Overall, the book teaches a new way of looking at things. Along with an abundant amount of ways to make your life less filled with worry, Dale Carnegie shows you how to get the most out of living. He pointed out so many simple things, like how doing things you enjoy and things that keep you busy can turn a person's life around. You get to read other peoples experiences, some relating to me, and some not, that I found helpful. The way the book is written is like a friendly conversation, not someone telling you what to do to stop worrying, even though that is the overall goal. At the end of every section, it gives you an "in a nutshell" summary of what was talked about. I have actually made a list of all the points touched on of things I can do each day to bring less worry and stress to my life. I hung this list on the back of my door to see each morning. I found this book helpful and it really changed my outlook on things.

This was one of the BEST books I have read. I understood that worry and Stress was not good but this book broke it down as to how it effects the body. It also gives ways to deal with stress. I highly recommend this book for anyone going through worry and stress...which we all face from time to time. I will keep this book handy.

I can't tell people enough that this is probably one of the greatest books ever written. It's simple, to the point and helps people tremendously. I bought this for a dear friend who was stressing a little, because it helped me out so many times when I was worried about things. This book is a lifesaver.

A soft read on dealing with Grief

Dale Carnegie is a great writer. I don't always agree with everything in his books, his religion, his opinions and politics; but I do always take a lot of positivity away from what I read of his. This book was not as impressive as How to Make Friends and Influence People but it is a good read for the worrier or anyone suffering through a traumatic event. I didn't find it life changing or an incredible book but it was a nice read.

An amazing book with great mantras to help the stressed and overwhelmed.

Stressed from work, from a turbulent love life, from a decaying social circle, and from an overall bout of severe depression, I found myself floundering for ways to recover from this onslaught of negativity. I decided to pick up Dale Carnegie's book as a sort of last-ditch effort to pull myself out of my funk, and when I finally started reading it, I found myself lifted.

Carnegie finds a way to really solidify practical ways to change your perspective on what's terrorizing you in your day-to-day life. He helps you take things one step at a time with this boo and relieve you from the load you've been carrying on your back as you try to deal with your earthly problems. This book has been such a godsend, and has really helped me slap some sense into myself.

I purchased this book on Kindle, but liked it so much that I went to Barnes and Noble to pick up a physical copy just to have on my shelf as a reminder of how to stop worrying and start living. I plan on going back through my shelf copy to highlight and bookmark my favorite passages, and I plan on rereading this book several times to solidify the ideas in my mind.

A very practical, useful opus.

This book is an "oldie but a goody", and if you have any worries, there are strategies provided to help you work through your worry.
I appreciate that Mr. Carnegie understood that there are many different personality types, and that "one size does not fit all", and that he provided a plethora of different coping strategies to appeal to the many unique people who read this book. I have read this book a couple of times, and now give it as a gift to people who are worrying. The many anecdotes illustrate the futility of worry, and more importantly, demonstrate effective strategies to help people continue to function and live, despite their worries. Sometimes we worry about very concrete issues, and other times we worry about hypothetical issues, but worry doesn't fix anything, and actually slows us down and eats away at our joy. Mr. Carnegie explains how to guide our own minds away from worry and continue to lead productive, happy lives. His advice reminds us to focus on what we can improve, occasionally to cut our losses, and not to obsess over what cannot be fixed.
