Do you believe that the world will be overrun by zombies one day? Want to be prepared so that you can survive a zombie infested life? Ben Jackson's How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse: The Complete Guide To Urban Survival, Prepping and Zombie Defense might be the book for you. Jackson doesn't claim to be an expert at all: "This isn't the Bible of zombies, but I've tried to get as close to one as I can get. Obviously some of the information in this book is tongue in cheek, the rest, well, it could just save your life one day."

Despite the apparent purpose as fun material, there are actually some good facts in this guide. One of the interesting parts of this guide is the types of zombies, particularly the "Haitian or Voodoo zombies." This chapter is followed by a discussion on your location situation; should you move around or stay in one place? Then Jackson discusses preparation and supplies, weapons, forming a group or going solo. There's also a chapter regarding transportation. Jackson reviews a general list of different types of transportation including bicycles. To be honest, a car or truck would definitely be my choice, no matter what. At the end of the day, no doubt survivalists or preppers have the best chances of survival should a zombie apocalypse occur. Overall, How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse is an entertaining and informative read from Jackson. That said, I hope we won't actually be needing this book anytime soon.

The author had me at the disclaimer. Anytime a writer warns that his book does not guarantee survival in the event of a zombie apocalypse, you know you are going to have some fun. Ben Johnson has written a comprehensive guide to survive anything from a natural disaster to a zombie apocalypse. Filled with thoughtful and well-researched information, this is a surprisingly fascinating read. Chock-full of interesting tidbits, Johnson explains everything one needs to know to protect themselves. Written tongue-in-cheek style, it is brilliantly laid out in an outline that begins with identifying the enemy, then systematically lays out a reasonable and comprehensive plan to protect oneself, including chapters on food, water, clothing, bug-out-bags, weapons, transportation. Johnson leaves no stone unturned. He gives credible explanations of what has to be done and I especially loved the part describing setting up a group or community in his post-apocalyptic world. Whether you are worried about the end of the earth, or planning to write a book about it, this is a great source that will give you plenty of information that just may keep you alive. It has the added benefit of keeping the reader entertained while it it doing it. I received this book to read voluntarily.

The most important thing I learned was determing which weapon would best suit me being below average height and not a fast runner. With new viruses being discovered all too frequently, you never know what tomorrow will bring. The author presented this practical information in an entertaining manner, making this book an enjoyable read.
