Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Schwed provides a brief history of tennis, interjecting insights on the changes in the game from era to era and on its Americanization. He nominates 12 players whom he feels are the greatest male players ever and then presents a lengthy lexicon of contemporary tennis talk. Fourteen profiles of selected men and women players who have "enriched the game" are included. The book is enhanced throughout by caricatures of players by Taylor Jones. Jones has illustrated six other "How To Talk" books. This modern overview of tennis and its biographical information are available elsewhere. Appealing but not essential.
